What is the one issue that kills Madden 09 for you?

And if this one issue was fixed, or better, would you think differently of the game?

I personally think its the AI. If the players, especially on defense did what they were supposed to do then I think I would love Madden 09.

Damn thats a hard choice. All those problems are really big in Madden 09. I chose Line Play, but honestly they're all of equal severity IMO. If only Line Play was fixed, no I wouldn't think differently of the game. ALL of those HAVE to be fixed for Madden 10, and then some.

I selected other, and for me its Gameplay. I dont enjoy the gameplay in madden. They had so much features and controls in the past that made the gameplay great.

This version doesnt have them.

Since I can only choose 1 aspect that bothers me the most. Thats the one I choose.

I agree, I think they are all severe issues. But if we as a community could only select one issue to be fixed to perfection, I am wondering what it would be. I guess I am just trying to get a gauge on how the community views the known problems. If that makes any sense lol

Not that I disagree with you, but I feel like gameplay is the combination of all the pole choices and more. I guess thats another good question. What exactly is gameplay?

I selected AI, but in reality, it's the combination of the issues that "kill it."

-I need good AI to play a good game (and really, AI at least partly covers most of the listed issues) but if the game is stale and boring, it's hard to stay immersed.

I will say that Ian seems to have a good understanding of what we want in terms of AI and general gameplay. Presentation is the one area that it seems hasn't been talked about much from Ian and co. (other than to acknowledge it needs work). This does have me a little uneasy about the direction that will go.

-Also (file this under "other" ) I think the lack of ANY progress in the franchise mode is terrible. This was once the core of offline play in Madden and it's seemingly become an afterthought.

Even if the gameplay's perfect, for me, if franchise is no good then it's just stringing meaningless games together. This is the mode I play the most, so it's a major part of what's disappointed me. Hopefully the addition of one of the NFL HC minds will help greatly with that aspect.

Anyway, Madden just has too many little (and a few big) things strung together which is what "kills it" in the end. Not sure if that's what your looking for, but there you have it.

I said lack of atmosphere. The game hasn't been as bad as it has been the past couple years but I quit playing simply because it was extremely boring.

The progression system in franchise.

That is my main mode and progression still sucks post patch.

Everyone progresses the same with each franchise I start and after 4-5 seasons all the rookie QBs are rated close to identical. There is dead set 10 CPU generated qbs that all progress to around 92-94.

I really look forward to hearing about a new progression system in Madden 10.

Rocket Catching. Thats not even in the game. Thus it kills it for me.

ON ALL-Madden, there is no way for th receiver to leave his feet to catch the ball unless its spectacular catching.

I chose Robo QB. Thanks to it, no matter how well you blitz, the qb will throw it even with his eyes closed and hit a WR.

Ultimately it's atmosphere. I can find more fault with 2kX than most, but atmosphere kept me playing it despite that. I love the roar of the crowd as you enter a game, I love the fact that the announcers felt "there" rather than like they were reading lines.

Madden 09 made a LOT of positive strides, and showed a ton of potential, but it was never immersive... and that word is quickly becoming the most important word in gaming.
