RACE Pro Review (Eurogamer)
First online review that I know of. Scored an 8 out of 10 but the guy seemed to take him sims seriously. A lot of the negatives he mentioned - graphics and presentation - are going to get this game slapped around by most of the other mainstream American reviewers.

Such unpolished aspects won't do the game any favours when it's competing against the likes of GRID and PGR4, but shrewd racing fans should be able to look past the exterior and appreciate the finely tuned engine beneath. Race Pro is a great driving experience, striking a rare balance between the immediate enjoyment of an arcade racer and the deeper, more nuanced long-term satisfaction of a hardcore sim.Last edited by lnin0; 02-02-2009, 09:05 PM.Tags: None -

Thanks! I have to admit this game is probably review proof for me. I'll be picking it up on day one.First online review that I know of. Re: RACE Pro Review (Eurogamer)
A little good news. Although the videos were removed at Atari's request before I could see them, the Author sounds pretty positive on the game.
Atari's and Simbin's Race Pro will be released next week, and here is two gameplay videos of it! I'm enjoying it so far and I've been surprised by several things in it. We'll put up First 10 Minutes and images of it closer to its release, but until then enjoy these two videos showing a WTCC and a F3000 race. They are recorded using the medium assistance/realism setting, out of possible 3 (the options are visible in the videos). As you'll see, simply cutting corners isn't always the best way to gain places! Update: Videos deleted at Atari's request, we were never told but apparently they would rather not have anyone capture videos before the release.
If you read through the comments someone brings up frame rate and screen tearing they saw in the video. The author's response is a little concerning....Atari's and Simbin's Race Pro will be released next week, and here is two gameplay videos of it! I hope this is not MotoGP06 all over again. I can forgive a ton of things but screen tearing and bad frame rates are a tough pill to swallow in a racer. It is basically why I stopped PC racing because every new year of sims required a massive investment to upgrade your PC.The WTCC video has a bit tearing yes, don't know if it depends on track or so since it's less in the F3000 one. But I wouldn't agree on that the framerate is "godawful", it dips during turns sometimes but it's nowhere close to what for example NFS: Undercover is. I don't think it's a big problem at all while playing, but I know people who demands 60 fps won't be pleased by it.
The Eurogamer review made no mention of these issues so hopefully it is pretty isolated.
I am buying no matter what - $40 is a small price to pay to support the lifeblood of future console sims but I hope it is a great game none the less.Last edited by lnin0; 02-15-2009, 04:41 PM.Comment
