New Screens & Ratings @ Gamespot...

I've had a few requests for rosters/ratings for MLB 2K9 so here we go. Below, you'll find the top ten players at each position in the game based on overall rating, plus the top twenty pitchers in the game. I've also included some in-game screenshots from the game for each of the top players at each position.

In other news, we've received the go-ahead from 2K to post more screens, so if you have things you want to see, let me know in the comments below and I'll do my best to grab them. No promises on honoring every request, however. Finally, I plan on putting up some video on Friday, so stay tuned for that.

That or it's the PS3 version.

McCann's helmet looks like it's inflatable.

Sadly, I think this is supposed to be Angel Stadium. Again, stadiums are lacking their "feel" where, if you've seen them live or on TV, you would know that something is off with this game, its lighting, and how it captures stadiums. I'm telling you that the sun's position has a lot to do with it, but I could be the only one.

        On the plus side...

You'd be very hard-pressed to find a repeat fan in this shot.

One thing I do like about the ratings is the fact that few players are 95 or above. A wider spectrum is always nice.

The guys kinda resemble the nba 2k9 game. That is a good thing. In the basketball game each guy in some way ( to me anyway) feels like that player, I got a feeling this might be the case in this game.

I can see several and I'm not even looking all that hard.... (the other game certainly has them too, of course)

Are you actually looking? Just because they have the same color shirts doesn't mean they're the same fan.

For my money, these player models look great and it does look like the NBA 2K9 idea where they resemble their life models in some way. I really like this and this game is hopefully going to be a good one. Just need some videos now.

                        2 things though

Vlad is toast...no longer the best RF in the game

                        and

                        where's Jon Lester?
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

Yes, I am. I can see swaying Braves shirt guy twice in the first three rows to the right of Pujols, for one. Several others in the exact same pose and clothing too. However, it does look better done than the other game because it's hard to pick out more than two exact duplicates in the same general area. Plus, this is a much wider shot than the other game's - and showing more of the crowd - which is also more impressive.

But....even if they're not wearing the same thing, it's going to look just as fake when a bunch of people wearing different things make the same stretching animation (or whatever) at the exact same time. This is something that's going to take a long time for anyone (not just 2k) to make look clean and not artificial.

I am not to crazy about these player models are the faces, but it does have a MVP look to it. Which is funny the other game has an Allstar baseball feel to it. It should be a good deal for everyone this year.

I've given up on trying to figure out the visuals in this game...lol. There are times when I am impressed with the visuals and others (like now) where I'm like...uggh, what's going on here. They're just so hit and miss in all these captures and the faces...yikes!

I'll withold judgement until the game is released. I'm hoping that the washed out and plastic look of players (primarily uniforms and gear) are just bad lighting and the shots being taken.

As for the ratings, while there are some kinda "whoa" rankings, I'm not too concerned. It really only matters in how they translate into the game and how the individual ratings add up. Besides that, I always edit the ratings anyway, usually, so it doesn't concern me in that regard
