I must say that the game looks much better in motion than it does with the screenshots. I like the atmosphere of the game. I noticed that there were police sirens in the background which is cool.

Are you kidding? This is what the 2k baseball series has looked like, and played like for what seems like a decade.

So far the game looks quite a bit better than last year, in terms of both graphics and presentation. Gameplay looks better too.

To be fair, it looks like a somewhat improved version of what we've seen the past 4-5 years. But the basic gameplay (when the ball is in play) itself looks very similar, and that worries me.

Did anybody notice one of the Cardinals players running back to the dugout and use the steps to get inside after the inning was over? Great touch, I hated it when they just stood there.

I noticed that as well. I thought it was a nice attention to detail.

The overall look of the game looks pretty good, but when in motion........yikes.

Hopefully it's an early build or something.

It's because they need to get in there. The game all runs seamlessly, it doesn't just become a "cut scene" of them going into the dugout, if that makes sense.

My first, gut reaction (before having time to really digest the vids) is... WOW. The real-time world and Virtual Director is friggn' incredible. The cuts/cameras look like a televised broadcast.

I purchased a PS3 last week just so I could play The Show, so I've already made up my mind as to what game I'm going with this year.

Having said that, I'm really impressed by these videos of 2K9. Looks like they made great strides in making it look like a real baseball game. The lighting at Wrigley, while it may not have the awesome shadowing of The Show, still looks very realistic.

If 2K can improve on NEXT year's game as much as this year's, I might have a difficult decision to make.

Yeah, what would happen if they couldn't get back in there for whatever reason? lol
                          The game would go haywire.

To be fair, I do think that the game in fact does re-load stuff after every half inning, hence the "fade to black" that I just noticed after rewatching.

But yeah, I can imagine this thing took a long while to implement. Even things like the dugout position and distance for each stadium needed to be implemented properly. Imagine if they didn't figure that out and a player goes straight into a wall (instead of going on the stairs), and does the "crash and fall" animation, and the programming prompts Thorne to go, "OH, look out!"

                              Haha...

They had a little meeting at the mound...right before going off the field...
"We must make the dugout...AT ALL COSTS" HOORAAH!

                              Okay, watched the video again.

I'm on board with the real time atmosphere. VERY cool.
It's not something you pick up right away...but it's going to make playing through game....much more interesting.....I like the idea of the feeling that the other team is a living breathing entity of sorts.
                              Crowds look MUCH better.

I'm still seeing the hitching in the video. At the same time every time.
For instance...when the camera is showing Zambrano after a hit to the outfield...it's a shot from the outfield....he kind of does this jerking motion. Looks like the girl from The Ring coming out of the TV.
I notice it on the pitches too. Seems like the ball misses a frame right in the middle of the pitch.

Overall....I'd say much improved so far over 2k8.
I'd say the switch to VC was a good move.

                              M.K.

I am fairly impressed with the real time stuff they've got going here. Alot of the animations are great so far & the player models are decent. Camera options are awesome! Weathers still in & maybe we'll get confirmation on progressive lighting sometime tonight.
Really hoping VC can pull off a perfect PS3 port, so theres no bitter feelings once again for PS3er's.
