Re: Gamespot Video: Another Cardinals vs Cubs
lol...gotta love the last stretch before release around here
.
Anyway, all my gripes aside (no need repeating them for each video thread
) the game does look like a real improvement over 2K8. If the framerate is fixed, the game plays solidly, and presentation stays at least on par with what we've seen, it should be a good step in the right direction.
Will it be enough to sell people? Depends, of course. I'm sure if you're a fan of the series or an Xbox only owner, you'll be just fine at the very least. It does give me hope for the future of the series.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video (Gamespot)
There are moments where this game excites me and others it baffles me. Did you see Soriano in the outfield side step toward the ball at the 3:43 mark. Horrible. That can't be the user. There are some major clipping issues with Ramirez at the begining.
I want this to be good. I want this to be good.
There's a fourth video up now.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video (Gamespot)
I think the worst thing about the video was the Soriano miss early in the video. That right there is game killing. He was standing right there and never attempted to catch the ball.
I think the best thing about the game as I see it are the replays. SCEA needs to take note, those replay angles were all really good.
I won't buy the game though. I've seen nothing to make me want to get it.Comment

No, this happens in 2k8 too. You'll put your fielder right where he should be, but he just doesn't even try to catch the ball. This happens with infielders too, but with grounders.(Outfielders let balls roll between their legs sometimes too.)
It's part of the A.I comeback coding, cause after this happens, the A.I will string together a couple of legit hits, then a 3 run bomb to cap the rally off...And usually the HR comes via the A.I pulling a low and away fastball.Last edited by HK-47; 02-13-2009, 05:44 PM.Comment

Yeah, it was a pain sometimes. Hopefully some of these repeat issues we see are due to the earlier build they're playing. I dunno. No, this happens in 2k8 too. You'll put your fielder right where he should be, but he just doesn't even try to catch the ball. This happens with infielders too, but with grounders.(Outfielders let balls roll between their legs sometimes too.)

Also in the Sox/Yanks video, no rollcall in Yankee stadium I see. and the animations still drive me nutty sometimes.
This game is just kinda all over the place for me. I can clearly see the improvements in areas, but some things just bug me.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video (Gamespot)
The Inside Edge is killing this game for me. Specifically the pitch selection. Watching this video just reminded me, I can't bear the catcher calling for offspeed pitches in, like a changeup low and in side. Sometimes pitches end up there, of course, but rarely on purpose. Furthermore, last year you'd get punished with the pay-off pitch in that if you didn't hit the spot that the catcher called for with two strikes you'd lose effectiveness of that pitch.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video (Gamespot)
I know what you are talking about, especially with 2K8, but I never saw it as a gameplay issue. It's just extremely difficult to make sure he's in the right spot. I wouldn't attribute it to come back logic. No, this happens in 2k8 too. You'll put your fielder right where he should be, but he just doesn't even try to catch the ball. This happens with infielders too, but with grounders.(Outfielders let balls roll between their legs sometimes too.)

If it's extremley hard to get him in the right spot, that IS a gameplay issue.
There is no excuse for that happening.Comment
