MLB 09 The Show Blog - Lighting Explained (Playstation Blog)
Playstation.Blog has posted another MLB 09 The Show blog. This one talks about the lighting in the game.
"Lighting was a major focus for us this year, and we implemented a Global Lighting model. What does that mean? It means that objects are lit by their surroundings. It means that when players are in shadow, they can still get light from the sunlight hitting the dirt just beyond the shadow’s edge, or a bright wall behind them. It means that in stadiums, red floors cast red light on neighboring objects. It is another step towards that realism we all want in our baseball game.

That was all pretty epic! It just shows how much is really put into this game, and the little things certainly count for something!
This is the blog though, right? As in, they weren't about to answer (with crystal clarity) the question about day games, as to some it's still fuzzy.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I'll tell you what.
When we were there.....he showed us on his workstation and it really was amazing.
It's incredible how much goes into just lighting the stadium....let alone "building" them...creating them...
These guys are excellent at what they do.

Re: MLB09 The Show Lighting Explained Producer Blog Live
I think I was most impressed at seeing the liveliness of the stadium. Nobody has really captured AT&T Park the way that it's actually built. Here's to hoping that this game has nailed it, even down to how right field is supposed to be accurately depicted.
These guys are doing nothing short of spectacular!
I hope they can get bleachers in future version of this game, though. I wonder if that's a more difficult thing to program.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB09 The Show Lighting Explained Producer Blog Live
Amazing how much work goes into getting that perfect lighting effect.
Sure looks impressive in this yrs game!
Just wondering why theres not actually a virtual sun present in the sky? I've loved seeing a bright glaring sun effect ever since the first Madden on PS2. Maybe even some brilliantly colorful sunset skies, with the moon coming into sight as it gets darker.
Might this be something added in a later version as the progressive lighting continues to improve?Comment

The lighting looks phenomenal. I can only imagine how difficult it is to program so that the light hits every little detail in the stadium. A lot of attention to detail can be seen in those images.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195
