The fact is that most of the guys on the board really commend the majority of the things we've heard and seen so far from 2k9, but do you really think 2k9 won't have any flaws? Even the show 09 will have some...

The thing is, the hardcore-gamers just wanna know if the flaws are there, if thex are fixable and if they are possible game-breakers.

It has nothing to do with fanboyism, the show is a must buy for me, but I would be stupid if I wouldn't want mlb 2k9 to be a great game, 2 great games are better than 1, aren't they?
No. Listen, I have posted my gripes and issues with the game(s) since the beginning of time. Why do the players walk across a freshly watered infield in the first inning, and have poofs of clay shooting out from their spikes? Have any of these designers actually stepped out on a field? Dirt does not shoot up in the air like freaking PigPen from the Peanuts cartoon. It is silly and ridiculous, and 2k continues to think that they need to have it in there. On a slide, that's great, show off your particle animations. When Youk walks to the bag in the first...yeah, not so much.

Collision detection. Hey maybe some year, we'll have guys who adhere to some principles of physics out on the field. last I checked, there was this little thing called mass vs space. Basically this means that a batboy cannot morph through the next batters' body in some Martix-esque shift of time and spatial relationships. And yet... watch the video.

So, no, I am not above the critique and conversations of flaws and issues of the games. But for crying out loud, if you watch a 1/2 inning of a game and based solely on the fact that YOU didn;t see enough grounders, and YOU felt the cpu swung at too many pitches, and YOU are one of the thousands of us who...get ready here, HAVEN'T PLAYED THE FU**ING GAME YET, making broad statements on how the game is going to be no good, is just plain asinine.

That's what I get irked about. Don't complain that Juan Pierre's socks are 1/4" higher than they are in real life. Complain that the 12-6 curveball doesn't actually get to the plate with that goofy animation they insist on portraying the curveball as looking like.

Lets go for the meat and potatos man, not the gravy.

    done.

This is a thread about 2K9, if you wanna talk about The Show, don't do it here, thats why it gets its own forum.

Drop the conspiracy theory(SONY ogres I believe you mentioned)...it's ridiculous.
But it must be nice to have a mod jump right on your side to give your argument legs though.
It goes both ways with the drive by attacks, so don't get your panties in a bunch about it....it's the new way of O.S. it seems.

          My last comment on this:

Is there a reason why you always talk about 1/2 of an Inning? Last time I checked Steve added more than 1/2 Inning. Let's say 10 gameplay-vids, that makes 5 Innings. It's not a huge sample size, but it's possible to take some notes. Even Steve admitted that the CPU pretty much hacks at everything, but I don't need someone to tell me that when I see it in 8-10 different gameplay-vids.

I've never said 2k9's gameplay can't be good, in fact, it looks pretty decent, I was just pointing out 1-2 things that could be possible game-breakers for me.

          Just my 2 cents

There is no conspiracy theory bro. I am done with the whole thing. The point was that you can be sitting around the watercooler talking with your boys, and then the guy that no one likes, shows up and offers up some mundane BS comments that have no bearing on the converstion, nor offers anything productive.

Panties are situated just fine. I get a little sand in the V from time to time, but I get it straightened out.

Have any comments and thoughts on the game you might like to share?

Not particularly. I've said about all I can from the videos.
Until I play it...see it in action...it's all speculation from here on in, so no real point for me.
I still like to read the comments though.

Fair enough. I am over it. I would be interested in finding out what build of the Beta discs that are out there that Steve was given.

Is it fair to say that perhaps some of the G4 video we saw, as well as the 10 minute Youtube video of Another 2k9 Video, might be of a later build? Might that also explain the greater number of groundballs that we see in those videos?

Now that my panties are back in place, I feel much better. Good on ya.

                  Okay....I will comment!

I, from the original videos we saw....thought there was a little hitching and stuttering in the vids we see from Steve.
However...in the G4 vid...it does indeed look smoother. Still some funky animations...but more in transition screens, so that's not a big deal....and that's good to see.
As far as some of the other gameplay things guys are noting(CPU not taking.....too many whatever) I'm a firm believer in A. edits(I know some guys don't like editing for game play..but whatever works I say!)...and B. Sliders.
Until guys get their hands on it....it's up for grabs IMO.

See there? Someone just hit a double in the gap.

Might have stretched it into a triple, but the condescending grammar comment in your edit got you thrown out at third.

I don't know you have it pretty bad for this game! Any ways can't we all just get along. I like what I saw. Except for Steve pushing hurry up with the animation. I like to see it all play out. I am hoping it is all real time. Meaning no fast plays. Like during foul balls. I have been waiting for a game to play everything out for so long.

I've pretty much accepted that 2k until they overhaul their game engines are going to have some cheesy AI tendencies and unrealistic physics. NBA 2k9 was the same way. 2k's games need a serious overhaul in the physics and gameplay department and they aren't spending money to do that. There are the same flaws in all their games that have remained for years. That isn't going to change until they invest in a new gameplay engine. EA and Sony with the show have done this and are leaps ahead in certain areas. But the thing is 2k still does an excellent job at giving a complete package. This game looks up to par with thier other titles and will probably be better because of the extra dev time, plus baseball isnt that hard to replicate. mlb 2k8 was a joke because it was in the wrong hands and was behind the curve. This game at least looks like it's ahead of the curve when compared to other 2k games, which is a good thing. 2k is pretty much getting the most they can out of an old engine at this point. It's a good engine so I'm sure I'll find things to enjoy here and some surprises as well. They do need to overhaul certain AI, physics and gameplay aspects though and they haven't done that yet it looks like.
I absolutely agree, which is why it bothers me with both NHL2k9 and MLB2k9 where we continually heard, "built from the ground up" which really isn't the case. At any rate they've definately gotten their monies worth out of what is esentially a core engine the've been using since the 2k4 titles.

At least in MLB2k9's case the game actually does look to be majorly improved this year which is a great thing for those of us without PS3's.

Oh well, If have not been mod like, I apologize. Just remember, I am allowed to be a fan too.
