We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
I do like to think they are still working out issues like they say they are and are getting feedback, but we will see. I agree that historically these prerelease games that get sent out are usually pretty much identical to the retail versions. They might have a newer build up their sleeve though, who knows. that would be a good question to ask VC. Are these shots we are seeing the final build or are they still really working out issues or are they just saying they are?
1) PR?
2) Ik it gets shipped out on the 23 they just cant sell it till the 3rd.
1) Public relations. Marketing. To get people interested in the game.
2) Exactly. It ships out next week, meaning it was already finished when they handed out preview copies to game sites last week.
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am taking this "Hot and Not" article with a grain of salt. It was written by who has only seen videos of the game. If he had played the game, then I would let his comments sink deeper.
For an example:
He was complaining about the frame rate. Seeing that he is only getting it from streaming videos, it is possible that the slighty jerks are from his connection or the server. Try this out: watch the video once and mark where the jerky motions are. Once you have that, watch the same video and see if the same issues persist. I have done this a couple of times and have noticed the same issues in different places.
As for IGN, they don't care about sports games. After last year's flop, they probably don't want to waste their server space with vids of a questionable game.
I am excited about this game. But I have been by 2k so many times. I don't think they have ever put out a great game. Can't say the same about EA or SCEA. With that being said, I am going to play the demo before I dive into this pool.
I don't like this article, I can't believe this guy has the guts to give an opinion on a game he never played, this is really unlike OS to post such a thing. The videos look good, I admit I am excited to play the game judging from the videos it looks improved in many areas. I mean no disrespect to Jack he's allowed to have an opinion, as we all are, but it really is tough to say how this game will be without actually playing it. Just look at 2k8, that looked promising but we discovered new issues as we were all playing it.
I personally like these pro's and con's things. It gives a good breakdown of what the strengths and weaknesses will be. What more can we expect when the game isnt even out yet? THat's kind of the purpose of these forums to jsut get a better idea what we want and what to expect. I don't know what people were expecting in an article at this point. OS isn't developing the game and it's not even out yet. At least we got an article.
I still don't get why people are getting so mad about bat sounds I swear I've been to plenty of games and that is what the crack of the bat sounds like even when I watch highlights on MLB.com and you hear teh ball being hit that is what it sounds like. I think 2k did a good job with it.
The thing is that the game he has was meant to be not all that great because 2k wants to see how we react. This will give them ideas to what they need to fix to, keep us wanting to buy the game. But when it comes out it will be polished and much better, to show us that VC has got it under control. =)
I hope that smiley face means you were being sarcastic...
