Each CF reads the game differently and I have to be honest with ya, he had no chance and it's not even worth the throw, especially with Ichiro on the bases.

Am I watching a different video....is Ichiro not coming home to score the winning walk off run in that case?

If you're coaching your kids to hold onto the ball or throw to the cut-off man on THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME...
I hope you have some good assistant coaches.
What the heck would you hold onto it for?...to bring it home to show mom?..."mom...look here is the ball the opposing team hit for the game winning single! I had them autograph it for me!"

Of course I'm half kidding here....but if the A.I. was "saying to itself" I have no chance at Ichiro....it looks bad that he threw to the cut off man.
You gotta make the attempt to throw home(who knows...Ichiro can trip...fall flat on his face halfway home).....or just not throw and walk in head hanging. It just looks weird to see that throw w/2 outs bottom of the ninth.

...and the reasons you guys gave don't wash...no biggie

By the way, I really hope that it's only coincidence both games were 1 - 1 in these two Oakland vs Seattle games, because the "progressive lighting" shows that of a late afternoon time in the 8th inning, then a dusk time in the 9th inning.

What I find even more strange is Steve said he didn't notice any progressive lighting in this beta. What was he looking for if this isn't it? The SF/AZ game showed the same progressive lighting (and unfortunately, really dark really quickly).

Of course, it is only proper to reserve judgment until I get my hands on the retail game. Yet it still is a valid concern, much like anything else.

To me the game has more pressing concerns than worrying if the sun sets properly.

Totally agree. Right now the AI Logic seems OFF & it's really showing in these CPU/CPU Videos.. Yes it's a BETA, but some of the stuff I've seen is head-scratching...

As we all do, but they've been repeated over and over; I thought one less repetition of the same thing would do everyone some good.

But it's not really about it setting properly, it's about a game going from 5:00 to 8:00 in a matter of an inning. This isn't a concern like it was in the demo for The Show, that was completely insignificant compared to this (and I know that will be fine for retail, so there's no issue there). I just also found it strange that progressive lighting should be more noticeable than ever when it's like this, and not one beta-tester was able to point it out.

I think you need to relax buddy.. it's video game, not real life. If you think you know everything about baseball, then why aren't you designing this game yourself or on the 2K team?

Give me a break, yeah I am sure I must not know the game considering I am 26 and have guided my school to a city finals and tournament victories.

There are much bigger things you can rip on your kids for in the game of baseball. Not even close at the plate, even if he does throw it? Am I supposed to pin the loss on the A's CF? Wow, relax and learn some fundamentals of the game.. Or, better yet, why don't you apply at 2K on the design team Mr. Know it all.

People like you ruin these boards with your put downs and negativity.. I said reconsider your opinion. I did not disregard it. There is no plate at the plate dude. Ichiro is way too fast and already rounding 3rd by the time he even picks the ball up. RELAX

Do sliders have an affect with CPU/CPU games or is it all AI programing?

Missed the other videos in which there a ton of hits in an inning.

The A's and Mariners have very weak offenses.

Anyone notice that the crowd was already standing in anticipation before the GW hit?

Exactly!! People love to nitpick but they overlook one of the best parts of the video. The crowd was chanting the whole inning, standing as well. When you are at a game in real life, and the home team can wrap it up, the fans always stand up, chant etc. That is the beauty of real life presentation.

How do you know a beta tester didn't point it out? If you would read some of the stuff out of the SCEA community event (again) you will see that light progression is NOT easy to program along with some other aspects that are missing from the games. The progressive lighting has some impact on every other aspect of the look of the game.

When we asked Steve and the guy that had the beta at Gamespot if they noticed progressive lighting, both said, "No."

Of course, I understand all of this very much. I'm not harking on any one look of the game's lighting (though I was in earlier screens), I'm just saying that a three hour lighting jump in one inning isn't exactly "progressive" as much as it is pretty much the opposite. Nevermind the fact that progressive lighting has been in this series since 2K5 (in night games since 2K6, and done in a delightful manner since 2K7), so I just figured that this wouldn't be as "jumpy" as it is.

And remember, I'm giving the game more grief than it should get. I haven't played the retail version, so I can't judge one way or the other until then. I mostly made the post because I was surprised that no one playing the game has noticed it yet, and in fact saying the exact opposite that there isn't any.

Yes personal slider settings have an impact on CPU/CPU games. Once the sliders are loaded, it's a wrap. Yes the AI will play the game, but the sliders affect everything going on in the game

After watching that video i will agree that there was no way the centrefielder was going to throw out ichiro at home but it just looked a bit off when he threw to the cutoff man. One thing i gotta say is way overdone is the dust clouds the players make when running, it kinda looks like an airplane trail in the sky.

ps: i'll say this about progressive lighting, if the programmers whine and complain about how hard it is to do then i say scrap it all together. Who really gives a crap about it, i only see it as less time spent on the game itself, work more on players models and AI.

Thought you were referring to the game testers (who are beta testers).

Because it was in 07 doesn't mean it transfers to 09. Change a code and just about everything else may need to be junked. That's how it works and I thought you understood things like that because you keep pointing it out.

My workaround for a roster problem with The Show last year doesn't work in this years game, and on the surface you would not think it would be a problem, but because the code was changed in one thing (probably the addition of the 40 man roster), it had an effect on the workaround. Again, I thought you had more understanding of coding/programming than the average gamer.
