Basically, this is and has been an issue in the game. I'm just addressing that the Papi thing probably wasn't attributed to him being Papi, and was more so attributed to the game being the game that it is and has been.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Thanks for backing me up on this one bro. I was out for the night, and didn't want to make this one a text battle where I started running away with paragraphs.

And this was my concern that I seen in other videos, and was never talked about by the developers.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Dave, I honestly think it's the IE kicking in. The problem I have with IE, is it creates artificial hits like this one. The players' IE vitals indicate he has to hit X number of HR's, or go opposite field X number of times. So instead of seeing real contact and real ball physics, the game manufactures the hit accordingly. Which is why it looks odd when it happens, and why it looks like frames are missing. Because those frames are missing. That hit never would have happened otherwise.Comment

I think what's wrong with that hit, more than anything, is the missing frame(s).Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video: Orioles @ Bluejays (Hits)
IE is primarily a feature to emulate how CPU players perform, not user players. Are you saying it was a user batter? I thought these were cpu-cpu games. Regardless, IE does in fact artifically manufacture hits, based on a player's IE ratings. That's an issue with the feature, and has been since 2K added it to the game. Which is why you continually see hits like this one that would never happen in baseball.Last edited by baa7; 02-22-2009, 08:29 AM.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video: Orioles @ Bluejays (Hits)
I think it's a dated physics engine that needs to be overhauled. Most of these issues we are seeing have existed for a while because they haven't really gone in and done a complete overhaul of hte engine itself. Yes they've concentrated on fleshing certain things out and getting it to run smoother and better and getting the game to flow correctly with better presentation, but there are still certain things wrong with the engine itself. Inside Edge is messed up as well but that doesn't have to do with that hit. It's just a physics issue and logic issue. The collision detection ahs gotten better, but it's still a dated engine. I really hope next y ear they concentrate on really overhauling hte engine itself from a physics and AI standpoint. I think as of right now 2k is just kind of relying on inside edge and their engine, vs actually going in and nitpicking little details such as this. 2k8 was a mess. NExt year I think they will nitpick these things. If you hear them talk they dont really talk abotu doing that kind of stuff this year and really delving into the engine and AI and gameplay because they didn't. They concentrated more on simplifying hte controls, getting the presentation realtime and flowing nicely, getting nba 2k9's franchise mode and mlb.com incorporated and getting the framerates up to par.Last edited by kGinGreen; 02-22-2009, 08:32 AM.Comment

How do you know that? Those type of hits were never in the game until 2K implimented IE. Now they're commonplace.Comment

IT could be a combination of the two. Maybe the engine is dated and wasn't meant to be used with inside edge? I just think there are balancing issues going on. It seems to me like they kind of threw inside edge into this game and haven't really delved in and really looked at this stuff yet amongst a million other things most likely. I just think their focus was on other things this year just trying to get the game to flow correctly and get franchise mode and all that ironed out. 2k8 was a complete mess like I said.Last edited by kGinGreen; 02-22-2009, 08:41 AM.Comment

I played the equivalent of close to three seasons with 2K5. The opposite-field-golf-shots-for-HR's that were in 2K8, were not in 2K5. It was one of the very first issues I noticed with 2K8.Comment

I think the danger here is basing conclusions on Flash video replays. These videos are not doing the game justice. Especially, in this video.
However, there is definitely a drop in frames. Watch the batboy picking up the bat. The bat morphs into his hands. An entire frame is missing. 2K claimed that these things are improved upon in the final build. I just read the Game Informer article previewing the game and they mentioned that the early build they had was better than last year's (In the framerate dept.).Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
