This is nice to hear, but honestly something that should have been in Madden 06. Two updates now and still nothing in regards to the true issues that have plagued Madden. Don't get me wrong, these are great features, I love them (even though the competition has already done these sorts of things), but they won't mean anything to simulation football fans if the core gameplay/X's and O's is never addressed.
But, hey it is Feb still, so we'll wait and see what happens.Comment

. That was a pure gameplay enhancement.

Re: New Madden NFL 10 blog post - QB improvements
Alot of people are like that it seems, I try to keep an open mind with things but alot just are taking a rent first philosophy this year. I'm pretty confident I'll be buying, with the demo being the final selling point most likely, I am definitely buying the direction the game is heading though. The QB ratings/procedural awareness are a real step towards realism. All I need to hear about now is o-line play and improved franchise and I will be very satisfied, online franchise isn't incredibly important to me. Oh and can't forget a good co-op experience...man I play a ton of Madden with a friend of mine on the same team. Been doing it since Madden 2002. Kind of a tradition of sorts, I don't mean to sound like an old timer (I'm 22 lol) but I've been rather disappointed with the nex gen Madden's so I've stuck to PS2. I think that should change this year based on the news I've been reading. Good job so far EA.PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

Man, this is great news though Ian. Im excited for Madden '10! All we need is updated OL/DL play, and WR/CB play and we got ourselves one of the best football games up to date.

2k5 and 2k8 you could get rid of the ball while getting hit. Most of the time the ball would hit the dirt 5 feet in front of you because of the hit moving the arm forward faster, but still.
If you're asking about who the competition is then I'm not sure how to answer because there is none.
To Ian: Like the addition of new ratings to the QB, I just ask that you de-clutter the ratings. I don't care to see how well my QB can pass block and his kicking power. Let us only see what really matters so we don't have to scroll past 20 different ratings to find what we want.Comment

Re: New Madden NFL 10 blog post - QB improvements
Ian - On the play-actions, are the defensive players still going to get "sucked" into the RB??
There would be plenty of times I know its a play action and want to get directly to the QB but I somehow get sucked into tackling the RB instead. Is this fixed by what you said in your blog, or a different issue?
I know this off the topic but just saw it from the pictures you posted. Are you changing the way they run this year? Because they ran in like baby steps in 09. In the photo you posted with Peyton Manning and Giants defender(tuck?), Tuck is running with his back STRAIGHT up. Idk just looks funny to me.Comment

Manning 99 , 99 ,99 , 99.
This will be great for oline dline suction blocking if its implemented there.Comment

Re: New Madden NFL 10 blog post - QB improvements
Wow, it's amazing to see some things we've long asked for on OS finally be put in the game. I may have picked the wrong year to swear I'd never buy Madden again.1. Deep Ball Accuracy: Determines the accuracy on deep passes (streaks, deep posts, etc)
2. Medium Passing Accuracy: Determines the accuracy on medium passes (outs, corners, etc)
3. Short Passing Accuracy: Determines the accuracy on short passes (quick smash, flats, etc)
4. Throw on the Run: Creates a modifier to accuracy when the QB is throwing on the run. Every QB will take some sort of accuracy hit when throwing on the run, but a QB that has a high rating here will take a smaller hit.
5. Play Action: Determines the 'effectiveness' of Play Action for a QB, i.e. how often they can fake out or freeze the defense (which is obviously weighted against the defenders Play Recognition ratings)
