So far after about 6 games
Likes:
-Presentation and commentary is greatness
-Framerates are mint. The game is super smooth and 2k has done a great job fleshing things out as far as presentation, and the game just flows really well.
-hit variety seems pretty well balanced. The gaps in the outfield are noticeable now and it seems to be scaled fairly well
-Some nice new animations and the physics seem better. Nothing really over the top like 2k7 with the wall grabs.
-Controls are really responsive and tight
-It really depends on how well you pitch. Called strikes are possible if you hit corners and play to the hitters weaknesses
-The lighting and colors in the game are very well done
-realtime stuff is great. The crowds are excellent and i love how they will fight for the ball, stand up and cheer, etc..
-The AI seems quite a bit smarter than past 2k games. The cpu will do things they have never done before and surprise you at times.
Still needs some work:
-still want to see more realistic pitch counts(hopefully fixed with sliders). I just dont get that feeling like i'm really having to work for anything in this game. That's my biggest disapointment. It's missing something in gameplay in that regard. I seriously could play a game and be typing this at the same time.
-animations still leave something to be desired at times. 2k still has that robotic look to it. Some other games have that cartoony look, but 2k really, I feel like i'm dealing with robots at times. The way players run, throw, and swing the bat in particular. 2k games are always missing that stylized approach. the slow jog also still exists.
-players still seem a bit juiced in spots. Rocket arms are still in full force. But at least you can control it. I'm hoping htis can also be remedied even moreso with sliders
-still some collision detection issues with certain objects.
-the ai still does some questionable things as far as baserunning, where they throw etc...
-Hitting is easy, but its a demo and the difficulty is really low.
All in all it seems to me like 2k kind of found a balance here between a sim and an arcade style game that's easier to just pick up and play, with enough depth to keep me happy. This is only a demo, but with franchise mode and all the other things not available, I'm guessing i will find quite a bit to enjoy here. This is the only 360 baseball game this year and I think this will be on par with anything else on other systems. Everything has their pluses in minuses but i havent had a good baseball game in a few years and this one should satisfy what I'm looking for.
