Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Well the CPU outfielders' constant screw ups on balls that hit the wall are starting to annoy me. I hope that's been fixed for the final version.
I've also found if you don't use the stick to influence you'll get a lot more flat trajectories on your hits. Which seems obvious now that I think about it.
Also one thing they need to work on next year is having the ball curve in the air after it's hit. There's hardly any movement at all to the ball in this game.Comment

Anyone else think the pitching controls are way too easy?
It's so easy to pinpoint where you want the pitch to go and paint the corners all day. of course baseball games are usually like this, but it's even worse in this game. i bet even pitchers like daniel cabrera will suddenly turn into greg maddux because of this pitching system.Comment

I really like the direction that 2K is going with the game. From the demo it seems they have a good base to work with in the future. However, being that the wife bought me a PS3 for christmas I think I'm going to pass on this years game and go with the Show. Hopefully 2K10 will be the one that gets over the top.
I notice people seem to like the faces but they look quite similar to 2K4 in my opinion. Griffey looks nothing like himself in this game.Comment

I don't understand all the hating. Game is better than last year. Couple things to remember..........
1. Game is on pro mode. Any talk / complaining about the computer not taking strikes or anything being too easy is a moot point.
2. 2k Baseball has always needed some slider tweaking to make it play good IMO

First of all, the notion that the CPU swings at everything is dead and gone. Put it to rest, don't want to hear it anymore.
Love the swing stick, never used it before. I'm sorry I overlooked it all this time because it feels more natural then button mashing.
The real time atmosphere is a thing of beauty. Players in the on deck circle, the dugouts, pitcher's warming up on the mound.
I noticed the game started off sunny, then some thick dark clouds rolled in, very well done.
I like how this year tapping the A button does not cause your runners to take off like last year. I inadvertently would tap A after a hit and it cost me a ton of runs.
The ads don't seem overdone at all. I barely noticed them but I made a point to look since that has been discussed so much lately. I think looking at the demo the ad complaints are somewhat unfounded. At least in this ball park.
This game looks and plays so much better than 2k8. Outstanding play by play, nice animations, love the pitching interface as it seems much more user friendly, although I gave up a homer on the first pitch
One thing I noticed is that you have much more control when fielding. When the ball is in play you get no assistance from the computer, it's feels like your doing everything so you don't always grab the ball fast enough or correctly and it's challenging to make the throw sometimes. I found myself waiting for the computer to assist me in picking up or getting to fly ball. This is a very good thing to me.
Also Love how the home crowd is down and out while I'm giving up hit after hit in the first inning. Great seeing the crowd go after foul balls/home runs, hearing them boo after I missed an easy double play.
Just hit my first home run.
Great game so far, very well done.Last edited by Eddie1967; 02-24-2009, 06:12 PM.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

No Take Strike sliders in the game this year. On the harder levels, the CPU will swing even more no doubt.Comment
