Have any of you press the directional button down arrow when you're up at bat or pitching?

It brings up the batting order and you can pinch hit for any batter batting with pressing the player to substitute and then hitting the right button to the bench for the batter to bat.
For pitching it brings up the batting order again and then you hit the right button and it takes you to the pitchers and you can either warm up or substitue the pitcher. When you warm up a pitcher, you can view the bullpen too.

This is a neat and fun game.

This has to be one of the worst impressions thread in OS history and it isn't because of the game.
      Thank you!

I suggest everyone takes what Pared says to heart. Infractions will start being handed out if people can not stop repeating the same stuff over and over.

I mean seriously. I have seen some people posting almost exactly the same thing over and over again. Are you just hoping to reach a new batch of people to get under their skin?

If you don't like the game, that's perfectly fine. Say your piece and move on. Its really quite simple. If it angers you that much, then write Visual Concepts, 2K sports, Take Two Interactive or, your freakin congressmen, Just don't go on and on about it here.

      Thanks.

        1. My posts don't duplicate themselves.
        2. They're valid points. I don't care how easy the mode is, Scott Kazmir shouldn't be hitting 7 for 11, period. Especially when the opposing pitcher has a 1.08 WHIP.
        3. The fact that there's almost no battle in the hitter/pitcher interface is criminal. Every AB has been a 1-3 pitch affair on both sides, and by the way, that was the problem in previous MLB 2K games. The fielding is dreadful, as is the baserunning. People are already talking about using sliders to "fix" the game - which means default is worthless.
        4. A lot of people have the same issues. Saying we don't doesn't make them go away.

No ****. I come to this website quite often because there are a good amount of knowledgeable people here. I like to read the impressions of people I recognize from being around here, but holy **** is this thread obnoxious. What a bunch of babies.

Moving on. I like the demo, but I also liked the game last year, for the most part. if they fixed the stuttering issue and the stealing issue, I'm happy. I'm not quite as up in arms over the CPU swinging at all balls in the zone and none outside issue, but I have noticed it. I think there were sliders for this type of thing last year so I'm sure it can be tweaked. I'll live. I will also switch back to last years controls most likely. I liked the pitching and batting the way they were. Overall, judging from the demo, this game will be as I had expcted, a better version of 2K8, which is a positive in my eyes.

Along with the in-game saves, this is a day one buy.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Demo Available, Post Your Impressions Here

I gave a demo impression earlier in the day, however, after several more games of playing I want to point out 2 important things with regard to the visuals.

                - For those of you playing this game in 1080p on your hdtv, the game looks much better with regard to animations, frame rate, and overall visuals when played in 720p (tried it on The Show a few weeks back and decided to do it to this game as well and it improved my experience big time)

                - The clould movement in this game is revolutionary, those of us that played VC's NFL 2K5 will notice that we have not seen anything like this on any game since then, as this effect changes the lighting of the game constantly along with the shadows as if it were a dynamic lighting effect, most clouds are just a painted back drop in other games. If you pay attention to Gary Thorne, he will ACTUALLY POINT OUT WHEN THE SUN IS TRYING TO POP IN AND OUT WITH VARIOUS SUN LIGHT THROUGHOUT THE GAME.

Constructive Criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one.
                  Constructive Criticism is welcome here.

Trolling and incessant game bashing without being constructive is not, and will not be tolerated.

nobody said there wasn't issues, i agree there are probably more issues then everybody has found so far, but you say it countless times which is why i said say it once and move on to something else if you post again and its an impression i am cool with that i don't have an issue with people saying there is issues with the game or they don't like the game not everybody will like the game but the demo is just that a demo, tell us your thoughts we will read it(hopefully only once) and then read what the next person has to say. as i have stated i know this is an impression thread and not a praise mlb 2k9 thread, and i do like to hear the bad with the good, just not the same thing over and over from the same person again and again

Talking about them over and over doesn't make them go away either. I honestly agree with SOME of your impressions, but I don't know man. I mean maybe a patch will fix some issues. I don't know what to tell you. There really is just no reason to go on and on and on about how bad the game is. Just let it go.

For those who need the help:

                        It's a demo.
The demo is on a low difficulty level.
                        It's a demo.
                        The demo is unfinished.
                        It's a demo.
This game is obviously in year one of a rebuilding phase and it's not going to be the most perfect game out.
                        It's a demo.

Again, I can't be the only one annoyed to see posts from individuals back to back like this:

Why did the AI just do this?
OMG they just threw the ball away!
I struck out 5 guys in only 4 at bats.
Why is Pena holding the bat upside down?
ENOUGH MAN, damn. OS now has a blog feature where you can keep a running tally of your games. And that doesn't mean you can't post your impressions but it would be nice if people post just that: IMPRESSIONS. It's obvious if guys don't like the game. But to keep posting about it if you really hate it that damn much is getting downright obnoxious. Have the same level of respect you'd like others to by not spamming the thread. If you don't like the game, say your peace and move on.

You are wrong on one thing:

Your posts are continuous and about the same thing. It's called trolling.

I am all for constructive criticism, but to constantly bash and bash and bash with no thought is just mindless clutter, and people tend to ignore you after the first 3-4 posts.

                          This is to everyone:

From this point on, anymore trolling (read: non-constructive criticism) will be red carded, and the person carded will be subject to a one month ban the 2K9 forum based on the moderating team's judgement call. Yes, I said judgement call, and if you don't want us to have to make that decision, I suggest you think long and hard before posting.

As for the MLB 09 fans: Stay out of this thread. I don't care what the reason. If you are here to tell 2k9 fans "what they are missing", don't. It's not needed in this thread or forum.

                          - The graphics really need an upgrade next year. They need to totally re-do the uniforms, they look disgusting. They look plastic. The players' faces also look awful.

                          - For the real-time thing to work and look good, they need to take care of their awkward animations and find a way to make players transition into certain animations smoother. For example, Burrell hit a HR off me, and as he rounded the bases he just suddenly went into this animation that had him pumping his fist and celebrating as he rounded 2B. As soon as the animation was over he just suddenly went back to running and it looked awfully strange.

                          - I'm thrilled the framerate issue is a thing of the past (at least on the 360).

                          - After my first two games, I noticed my usual plan of taking pitches and working the count wasn't working because Kazmir was getting ahead all the time. So my 3rd game, I didn't even swing the first two innings. Kazmir retired the side in order with 9 pitches in the first. The 2nd inning, he retired the side in 11 pitches. Scott Kazmir throwing 2 balls in 2 innings is a joke. Hopefully, sliders can fix this.

                          - The CPU swings at pretty much every strike I throw. I can only remember one batter taking a called strike, and that was the pitcher. There were 2 or 3 others, but that's the only one I remember.

                          - The CPU has a REALLY hard time hitting curves. I think I could go the whole game throwing curves and pitch a shutout. I've yet to see a curve hit with authority. I'm going to play again and throw nothing but curves and see what happens.

                          - They need to really focus on sound next year. The stadium sounds need to be re-done, they are really outdated. The bat sounds are still terrible. And why the HELL is that organ still playing? I know he doesn't work on the game anymore, but KushGamer promised me the damn organs would not be in 2K9.

                          - The announcing is good, but only time will tell if it's repetitive or not. But I love the way they actually talk to each other in the booth.

                          - Some of the real-time stuff is great. The cuts to the batter, pitcher, or runner between pitches is beautiful. The bat boys collecting the bats is also great. But like mentioned above, they need to work on it, especially the animations. I also don't think looking at the pitcher standing there doing nothing for 4 seconds is necessary. Good idea, but it needs polish. I expect it to shine in 2010.

All in all, I'm actually disappointed. I know I haven't been the biggest supporter of 2K baseball, but I loved 2K7. 2K8 is something I'd rather forget. But for some reason, the last few weeks I was really starting to look forward to this game. But this demo is making me think twice. It's going to play terrible baseball out of the box as evident by the demo and the countless gameplay vids. Some heavy slider work is going to be in order to try and get this game to play real baseball.

VC should of made sure this game plays good baseball before anything else. That needs to be priority #1 and it obviously wasn't.
THAT is the definition of Constructive Criticism. Well though out, organized into one post, negative impressions without mindless bashing, did I mention ORGANIZED TO ONE POST. And Rob let it stand with that. He doesn't feel the need to come back in an pound his opinion into everyone's head. He posted his opinion and allowed others to read.

Let's attempt to clean this up without the mod team stepping in again, folks.

My first game ended in a 4-4 tie with 6 hits for each team, and I struck out 3 batters. I had one double, but there should have been another but I didn't figure out the base running controls until later. Only big thing that concerned me was every run I scored was with a HR, and there were 5 in the game total. It looked pretty good and the presentation was excellent. Player faces were hit and miss, some looked great, other not so much. I did think the fielding was a little jerky and the players moved too fast. If I was a xbox gamer only, I would pick this up. Looks like 2k really stepped up this year and put out a good effort.

I finally got to play the demo when I got home from work.

I'm not ecstatic--- deep down I desperately want a new engine. I still see sluggishness in the outfield, and weird choppy transition animations. The running controls are clunky... Overall the controls feel out of touch. Bah.

Still, I'd love to play the full game so I can tweak the settings to my liking. But I refuse to pay full price again.

2 points to solve your problem:

#1 This is a early build version of the DEMO......A DEMO!

#2 Easy mode on any game of any genre will be EASY!!!
meaning that my 6 year old son can pick up the "sticks" and play right away which was the intention of the developer, lets be realistic with expectations here, the demo was free for a reason and not $60.00......this is a pick up and play experience, hence no demo user control guide, no difficulty setting aside from easy mode, 3 innings, and demo came out 1 week prior to release where there is no way for the dev team to get demo feedback from the community to effect game before release.
