    API...Yay or Nay?

Do you use it? Do you think its realistic or do you think its a handicap/aid?

I've been debating in my mind whether or not I want to use API this year. I kinda like it because in real life the catcher will make suggestions and its up to the pitcher to agree or disagree....I think it represents that fairly well.

I know the catcher doesn't have any hidden knowledge, and I know his suggestion may not always be the best option, but for some reason I still feel a little cheap using it sometimes.

I wish they would make a rating so certain catchers would call a better game than others. That would really be cool.

    Yay.

You can always throw a different pitch to a different location if you don't trust the catcher's decision.

I do all the time. Make's it that much more realistic honestly.

Nay. I like to decide what to throw and where.

But see thats the thing though...you can still do that but the catcher is just offering a suggestion just like he would in real life.

Something else I would like to note...I seem to walk more hitters with this on as well, because when I have three balls on a hitter I am usually real conservative and just sling one over the heart of the plate. But with API on, sometimes the catcher will call for something on the corner and I'll go for it, end up missing, and walk the batter.

Nay, but I do follow the catchers signs most of the time (or at least the pitch)

Yeah, but only until they fix it so that you can have the catcher repeat the signals with API off. It seems an odd oversight that you can with API on but not with it off.

Yep, this feature has been debated for the past couple years...

Personally, this feature is NOT considered a cheat / advantage at all whatsoever...

IRL, the pitching coaches have charts on EVERY player, which then they relay the signals to the catcher, whom in turn it gets relayed to the pitcher.

Personally, I don't use it, but it is a GREAT feature! Just my 2 cents.

I know, I just don't like looking at it. It distracts me and makes me 2nd guess what I want to throw.

Wait, so the catcher's suggestions are simply random? they're not based on any ratings, scouting reports, hitter tendencies, hot/cold zones, etc?

If that's the case then I'm not sure I'd even use the feature.

I'm thinking the same thing....if its not really based on any batter preferences or tendencies and random.....I'll pass on that. Thanks to whomever initiated this.....ah....bsb...that would be you. Thanks!

I'm not sure what all its based on (maybe someone else could clarify?) but I know that its not random. I remember a dev talking about it one time but I cant remember what all he said it took into account.

I thought the catchers had a rating based on how they call a game? can't remember but I didn't think it was random.
