This game is not that good
Speed is WAY too powerful in this game. You got guys running by midfielders and sidebacks like they got turbo jets attached to their cleats. WTF???? I play soccer year round and there is NO way that this game is a true accurate respresentation of the sport. Another issue I have with this game is the response time, particularly on corners. The response time is just not there. This really needs to be fixed for future versions. I think 09' is better than 08', but thats not saying much since I thought 08' was awful. I might have go back to PES for PS2.

i know what you mean speed is way to much in this games thats all need to get by defenders not pace, ball control, dribbling just pure speed which makes people like agbholar(aston villa strike) better than freakin Ibrahimovics and also how about the way the ball just floats in the air. Speed is crucial irl as well, therefor slower players learn how to position them selves. If you're getting tricked by fast players, you're doing it wrong.
I do agree with the response though, it was better than it was, but still not good enough. Which makes it absolutely terrible online.Comment

Speed is just one attribute. By no means whatsoever is it the most important one. There are other attributes in the game of soccer that are more important than speed. This game makes it seem like speed 'counts the most'. This is simply NOT true. NO player in IRL runs down the wing like they do in this game. In all my years of playing this sport it just doesn't happen. Not sure what you mean by the 'tricked by fast players' comment.Comment

He means he's a cheeser who puts his aggression and pressure up to 100% and plays long through balls to this faster wingers, runs all the way to the touchline, and crosses it in. In all seriousness though, he sounds like the guy that knows how to play FIFA, rather than soccer.Comment

I play Fifa every now and then, most of the time it's offline. I have seen these tendencies online, with some players choosing very strong and fast players. Luckily there are only a few teams which you can do this with. And when you learn how to defend your self, it's not that big an issue.
Murkurial: Don't talk about things you don't know. I've been playing "soccer" since I was 5 and know the game very well.

this game is good. you just havent learned to play the game right make sure to use all the abilities on defense like side stepping, speed side stepping the player your controlling on defense must have good position in order for your whole team to have good positioning

In order to take away these types of players, set your formation to have to a 5-3-2. Use a sweeper, and adjust your defense width to about 90. Speed has been like this in most of EA's sports games, regardless of genre. One of the best things they ever did was neutralize its effects in NHL. That was really when that series turned the corner.Comment
