    Heisman Darkhorse in 2009?

We saw it out of Chase Daniel and Todd Reesing in 2007, and Javon Ringer this season. Who can we expect to creep into Heisman contention in 2009? Obviously it needs to be unexpected, so Tim Tebow or Sam Bradford wouldn't be a valid response.

I've compiled a list of candidates, see what you think:

    - Russell Wilson (NC State)
    - Jake Locker (Washington)
    - Robert Griffin (Baylor)
    - DeAndre Brown (Southern Miss)
    - Colin Kaepernick (Nevada)

None will happen, not from good enough teams.

Good luck to anyone not named McCoy, Bradford, or Tebow competing for the Heisman.

The Tebow will run away with the annual Heisman Trophy Presented by Tim Tebow Award Show Award.

No other player has a chance to prepare make their time.

I wouldnt say that considering the other finalists from last year all returned this year to good teams.

I would say Juice Williams (yeah homer pick) has a chance if he lowers his turnovers and Illinois actually wins this year. But I really dont see anyone besides Colt, Sam, and Tim winning.

Another thought is Jahved (spelling?) Best

It's Jahvid Best. If he plays good next year hes got a good shot. It's just that people focus their entire defense on him now, like in the bowl game.

That's very possible. I forgot all about Dez. With guys like Quan Cosby, Nate Swift, Michael Crabtree, Juquian (sp?) Iglesias, etc. gone from the Big XII, it could be Dezmon's time to shine.

                Homer pick: Christian Ponder
I could see this one too. Florida State's offensive line is much matured, and Ponder is a solid quarterback overall.

I concur with this. It will be interesting to see how Cal's line turns out with the loss of Mack at center, but barring injury, Best should still put up ridiculous numbers. He's the best back in the nation.

I think Bradford pretty much eliminated himself for repeat consideration in '09 after underperforming so badly in his bowl game.

Jason White did the same thing. Actually, none of the OU hypesman QBs has ever won a bowl game.

He might be a finalist, but I would be willing to bet a substantial number that he wont win even if he breaks every passing record known to man.

The way OU QBs have played in bowl games, and made the voters look bad, is the major reason. He showed he didnt deserve it last year, and they arent going to give him back to back awards when they didnt give Tebow back to back
