    How Do You Release Players?

I have been trying to make changes to my roster by releasing players to free agency, but I can't figure out how to do it without trading with someone on the free agent list. I noticed that you can release players to free agency while in season or franchise mode, but I haven't seen an option for this if I want to make changes prior to entering these modes. Does anybody know how to do this? Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can. It's to maintain roster integrity, I believe.

I just usually add a free agent or subtract a minor league player who is lowest on the roster or free agent list. Just hit triangle and make sure their mlb time is 0 and they have no stats at mlb level so that you know you aren't releasing a real prospect to FA to pick up a real FA signing. It works the same way with cuts. Just select your cut player, and sign the scrub of the same position off the bottom of FA list.
