Is the Heisman a Joke?
I want to know what you guys think of the Heisman. I feel like the last person who earned a Heisman(which I thought was supposed to be reserved for the BEST player in college football) was Charels Woodson. No I'm not really a fan of his but he was the best that year. It seems to have diminished since then. What do you think? I know many of you are Tim Tebow fans but one of my questions is this. If you're the best in the land 1. Should you be a lock for the next season? 2. How can you possibly be the best if you're not projected at number one for your position if you enter the draft that year? Not bashing Tebow, I think hes a good athlete. I just question the Heisman and WHY many athletes recieve it. I think its simply become a popularity contest. Or am I wrong and it's always been that way?94It means you are the best in College football. Period.0%17It's an overated award that means nothing anymore.0%49It will look nice on your coffee table.0%19Screw the Heisman, it's all about the Thorpe Award!0%9The poll is expired.

Re: Is the Heisman a Joke?
It's basically the Best Quarterback on the Best Team Trophy, so yes, it's a joke. -

Re: Is the Heisman a Joke?
Because the college game is much different than the NFL game. Tommy Frazier was a beast in college, but his skills didn't translate to the NFL because of the option offense Nebraska ran. I don't see how anyone would have argued he wasn't the best player in college football because of his draft status.

Re: Is the Heisman a Joke?
Cool. As a Florida fan I could care less. 2 national titles and a heisman trophy during his career so far is all I care about. I hope he does well, but it won't lessen any accomplishments in college. I'll remember his domination of teams like FSU more so than his NFL career.MLB: Rays

I hope he does start at QB one day. Or at least backup.

Re: Is the Heisman a Joke?
you mean two "B.S." Titles and a heisman...lol...Florida football used to be the best when FSU,miami, and FL battled it out in previous years.I give the edge to Texas football of course.Overall the award is a bit overrated.None the less Tim tebow will make a fine Fullback in the NFL, he is good between the tackles and is very durable, just what you need in a blocking back.
Slaughtering an unbeaten Ohio St. and a red hot Oklahoma.

Re: Is the Heisman a Joke?
As for this, no, the Heisman is not a joke. It's still the biggest award in sports.
Now, it is a joke that Big 10 and Big XII players actually get to win one occasionally, but it's still a big deal.Comment
