I general go with an in-state rival. Like when i'm Ohio State i'll find an Ohio located MAC team. With you already being SMU, i would say go for a lower quality BCS team, like a Baylor, WAZZU (although finding pac-10 teams are hard with some of them in conference play by week 1), or Duke. You could always go with an indy team too like Navy or Western Kentucky (they are indy in football right? I know they are sun belt in basketball).
