I actually feel like giving up on the NCAA series

Anyone who has been around these forums for any length of time knows that in the past I have really defended EA in many facets of their games but I think I've just about run out of juice seeing the new game details and screenshots. Make no mistake, I will be there to buy the game on day one but it's only because I'm a college football addict.

I honestly don't know what is going on over at EA with their football games. Their other games such as Tiger Woods and NHL are doing quite well with nice innovations and great advances forward each year. But I don't see this with EA's football games.

I am beginning to wonder if it is because the entire platform was hosed to start with and that the game engine is unsalvageable. All in all I'm really upset because I've been a longtime fan of EA and yet I feel like they are simply ignoring the football market. I think the series needs a complete reboot ala NHL.

I imagine this year will be like the last few years, I will buy the game with the eternal hope it will rock. And initially I will be ecstatic with it because it's new and it's football. But after a few weeks it will become stale and boring.

Is there anyone out there who feels the same way? I don't know what to do other than lament the passing of a great series and honestly it makes me angry with nothing to do with my anger.

Amen brother...

I'm THE biggest college football fan out there and I am dissappointed year after year with NCAA football franchise, yet out of addiction I have bought every year since '99.

I question if anyone who works at EA has ever laced up their cleats and played a real game of football before.

Their attention to detail is piss poor and it makes them come off as very lazy ..

It honestly seems like they work from Jan-June with the rest of the year off.

Something needs to be shaken up ..

I would pay EA sports to let me come in and work 40 hours a week just to improve the game for the community.. I feel as a project manager I could change the game positively in a month more than they do all year.

They seem to pick the easiest "new features" to add and play them up to the community like they are earth shattering .. Burmh. 95% of the time its crap.

Wind socks? How bout some dreadlocks, eye black or the "Percy Harvin" Revolution facemaks...Sorry have to plug it every post to get my point across.

I have actually offered to work for them for free on the alpha/beta and give creative insight but they don't seem to appear to care one way or another.

Man ODOGG this alot coming from you especially since I know you have tried in ernest to see the positive side in EA's football games in the past..But I was in your boat about 2 years ago..I just started renting thes games and buying them used at a drastically reduced price..It's frustrating to see what has become of these series..I too am a die hard college addict but it seems like it is taking a deliberate back seat to Madden this year..Minimal upgrades if any at all have become the norm with Ea..

If any EA games has really showed what difference a year makes is NBA Live! Live 06, 07, and 08 was unplayable by my standards ,but 09 was actually really good. NCAA doesnt even require that kinda jump! But they would dont listen to us about adding BS. I like you ODog I love college football but look like its Madden all the way. They have to learn to vaule our money(or lack there of) before they can vaule our opinion!

Madden is not worth writing home about either. Let's face it, Madden is mostly like NCAA only with upgraded graphics.

I'm suddenly feeling faint as I read this. I feel you. I argued you and country boy to death over 08 and I actually got a trolling violation. I'm totally optimistic due only to OMT and the fact EA is appearing to want serious criticism from the communities. It will be bad if I'm horribly dissapointed. My ceiling is only set so high due to next gen so I'm very realistic in my expectations but I don't know if I'll be able to stay with them if they bomb 2010. I am holding out hope for the first time in 3 years.

The AI is way too horrible for next gen and that is my #1 concern for 10.

Not sure Watcher if we're thinking of the same screen shot. But that one showing the USC QB standing all by his lonesome, with the whole right side of the field wide open, was very disheartening. While the entire O-Line/D-Line was huddled together in the middle of the field.

I gotta believe if we saw a screen shot like that for Madden '10'...it would cause a nuclear meltdown on the Madden board.
