    Hollywood Baseball Stars

I'm sure this has been done many, many times in the past. But I find it to be very fun and exciting to see what happens with the characters of some of my favorite movie baseball players.

This excludes movies made about historical players.
ie, 8 men out, field of dreams, the natural, etc

Here is a list of players I have made CAPS for.
I typically use the age of the actor during which the movie was released if not otherwise noted in the film.
You guys can add on to the list if you'd like.

    OF
    Willie Mays Hayes CF
    Cleveland Indians
    (Wesley Snipes version)
    'Major League I'
    - flamboyant speedster
    - brings the team life
    - exceptional fielder

    Bobby Rayburn LF/CF/RF
    San Francisco Giants
    (Wesley Snipes)
    'The Fan'
    - newly acquired all star
    - great all around player
    - attitude issues

    Juan Primo CF
    San Francisco Giants
    (Benicio Del Toro)
    'The Fan'
    - the latin crowd favorite
    - bonfide all star

    Pedro Cerrano RF
    Cleveland Indians
    (Dennis Haysbert)
    'Major League I & II)
-voodoo man with a powerful bat
    - not strong defensively

    SS
    Benny 'The Jet' Rodriguez
    Los Angeles Dodgers
    (Mike/Pablo Vitar)
    'The Sandlot'
    - great fielding/hitting speedster
    - great guy to have in the locker room

    SP/RP
    Whitt Bass
    Anaheim Angeles
    (Neal McDonough)
    'Angels in the Outfield'
    - eccentric pitcher with character
    - has control issues at times

    Mel Clark
    Anaheim Angeles
    (Tony Danza)
    'Angels in the Outfield'
    - well past his prime but has one year left in him, maybe
    - lesser talented Tom Glavine type

    Rick 'Wild Thing' Vaughn CP
    Cleveland Indians
    (Charlie Sheen)
    'Major League I & II'
    - young wild pitcher with a great arm
    - very effective when he manages control

    Nuke LaLoosh
    New York Yankees
    (Tim Robbins)
    'Bull Durham'
    - newly called up youngster with potential
    - still learning but unstoppable when he focuses

    Steve Nebraska
    New York Yankees
    (Brenden Fraser)
    'The Scout'
    - incredible pitcher who can pitch and hit, too bad he's in the AL
    - threw an 81 pitch, 27 strikeout game in the World Series
    - has serious mental issues he manages to play through

    Billy Chapel
    Detroit Tigers
    (Kevin Costner)
'For the Love of the Game'
    - veteran leader who still has it
-great poise and control under pressure

    Henry Rowengartner
    Chicago Cubs
    (Thomas Ian Nicholas)
    'Rookie of the Year'
    - very young stud with a great fastball
    - needs a couple years in the minors to develop

    DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT
    Jake Taylor C
Cleveland Indians - Too old, knees are shot

    Rube Baker C
Cleveland Indians - This guy belongs in AA

    Crash Davis C
Durham Bulls - Too old, not quite MLB caliber

    Jack Elliot 1B
New York Yankees - left the bigs for Japan

    Roger Dorn 3B
Cleveland Indians - Defensive liability, not enough heart, getting old

    Stan Ross 3B
Milwaukee Brewers - WAY too old

    Chet Steadman SP
Chicago Cubs - This guy's arm is DONE

Anyone from the Bad News Bears
    - Sorry, this isn't little league kiddies

Anyone from A League of Their Own
    - this is BASEBALL ladies

Anything with Animals who play baseball
    - yeah I'm talking to you, Joey Tribiani

I agree. Thanks for posting that. I should have included him, but I just posted my favorite characters that Saint didn't mention.

I couldn't stand watching that movie with Freddie Prinze Jr! His mechanics were terrible! Just look at the picture where he lands. It may not look bad, but I can tell he's never pitched.

If Juan Primo can be in the game after dying, Jack elliot can be in it after going to Japan. FACT.

                You're right about that one.

I left out the Summer Catch boys because they weren't MLB and I haven't seen that movie since 12th grade or so, so I couldn't remember if any of them ended up in the bigs.

I did include Billy Chapel Jason_19, I believe he has one more strong year ahead of him, maybe even two.

I left out Stan because that mofo is OLLLLLLLLD!

I left out Roy Hobbs because that movie takes place so long ago.

                Anyway, appreciate the responses.

How about Alejandro "Butch" Heddo from Rookie of the year. He turned the bat into sawdust.

                    The Great Hambino.

                    Jerry from Little Big League.

                    just to name a few.

Ryan Dunne made it to the Majors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_wDn0FBBjA He faces Ken Griffey Jr. at 6:15.

                              Everyone's favorite reliever:

Sam Malone - Boston Red Sox.
                              May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K
