Welcome to the Izzone: A Michigan State Spartans Dynasty (CH 2k9)

Welcome to the Izzone: A Michigan State Spartans Dynasty
Though Coach Tom Izzo's Spartans lost Drew Neitzel, their heart and soul floor general from last season's 27-9 team, there's plenty of talent left over in East Lansing.

Sophomore Point Guard Kalin Lucas takes over for Neitzel, and he's already proven he can play after averaging 10.2 points and 3.8 assists per game as a freshman last season. Last year's leading scorer (14.0 ppg) Raymar Morgan also returns to hold down the Small Forward position and provide leadership. Sophomore guard Chris Allen will be counted on for his shooting and scoring ability.

The Spartans' frontcourt should not be lacking in talent or toughness, either. Newcomer Delvon Roe, a 6'10" power forward, has the toughness and athleticism to start right away in the Big Ten. Senior Center Goran Suton is as hard-nosed as they come, and he should improve upon his 9.1 points per contest.

Final Projection: 30-6, NCAA Elite Eight

    Starting Lineup:

    PG Kalin Lucas

    SG Chris Allen

    SF Raymar Morgan

    PF Delvon Roe

    C Goran Suton
Hope you guys enjoy. I've done a bunch of 'chises over on the IGN boards but wanted to try something different, and especially a CHoops one, so here we go!

      2/21/09 - vs. Ohio State
      2/24/09 - vs. Indiana
      2/25/09 - @ #25 Wisconsin
      2/27/09 - @ Minnesota

      Red denotes Non-Conference game
Green denotes Big Ten Conference game

Schedule Analysis: There are several rough patches in the schedule for the Spartans, including #1 North Carolina just two days after returning from Hawaii and a back-to-back on the road at #11 Purdue and Penn State. Overall, enough strength on the schedule (Notre Dame, UCLA, UNC, Texas, Purdue, Wisconsin, Kansas all in Top 25) to boost the RPI, but it shouldn't be totally killer. Look for MSU to have their way with the Big Ten schedule.

The Spartans jumped out to a huge halftime lead thanks to 10 first-half Bradley turnovers and balanced scoring from Kalin Lucas, Chris Allen, and Delvon Roe. The Spartans struggled with turnovers in the second half, but credit Bradley's improved D on Kalin Lucas. Freshman Korie Lucious was able to knock down 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to ice the game for Michigan State. Coach Izzo will be pleased with the defensive intensity and rebounding, but MSU still has some work to do offensively, which became plainly obvious in the 2nd Half.

Also, where do you guys get those small, generic logos?

I am too! I found Pujols4MVP's table creator and just used that, so I'm still getting the hang of that, but it's a great help for me.

Notre Dame game should be up sometime today or tonight.

                  Picks:

                  Rece Davis

                  Michigan State
I like their Defensive and Rebounding ability, especially on the road. Spartans win by 10.

                  Jay Bilas

                  Notre Dame
Home-court advantage and shooting ability should be just enough for Irish.

                  Hubert Davis

                  Michigan State
Even though Spartans are on road, leadership of Lucas and inside toughness will carry them past Irish.

                    Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

Thanks man. Nice to see the Spartans headed to the Final Four this year, too!

I'll have the Notre Dame game up tonight and probably a bunch of updates tomorrow, no school.
