I think trading Dan Boyle and Brad Richards were actually good decisions for the Lightning if you really think about it. Well maybe not Dan Boyle, since Matt Carle is on Philadelphia now but Brad Richards was a good decision. Richards salary would just get higher and higher as the years went by and soon enough the Lightning can't afford him and they lose a quality player for nothing. Now if you look at the trade, the Lightning were in desperate need for a consistent goalie, Mike Smith was such a beast when he got to Tampa Bay, he wouldn't have got any ice time in Dallas while playing back-up to Marty Turco. Jeff Halpern is okay too. The Dan Boyle thing I guess kind of kicked the Lightning while they were down.
