But what the hell I am going to ask my one question anyway, if none of you guys want to answer thats fine but I will give it a shot.

This question is more focused on LBZ since he is a defensive minded player, but if any of you want to chime in thats great. I have always been a defensive Madden player. I play field position football and great defense. I am a Baltimore guy so obviously play as the Ravens. In the last gen Maddens (partiularly 00-05) I could play this way and be very competitive. Since next gen, playing defense has been more of a chore and just hasn't been any fun. (or effective)

My one question is, in your opinion, is this the year we can play great defense and field position football, and actually compete against even the best offensive players? A simple Yes or No would be just fine with me Thanks guys!!
From talking to these guys I think Defense will hold up this year, Db play is better they actually play the wr. You can shed blocks better so You will have fun playing with Ray Lewis. The new AI tech should help out so it will be more of a chess match. New route running should help the db's keep up with wr's so champ on steve smith from the Giants won't be a nice matchup for the offense. So by putting somethings together I think you can return to you're style of play and do good.

When I said that, I meant individual isolated animations. When it's all put together and in motion and you see animations flow into other animations and interact with other animated elements, Madden is the better looking game even getting beyond nextgen graphics.

Ian said we would be kept "in the loop", but I guess we wont know what that means until we hear from him. The reason we're talking now was a pretty good sized email we each got from him spelling out what we could talk about.

Everything I can tell you is in the franchise blog. All I can really say is that you can take the blog at face value. Other than that, I can't elaborate without breaking NDA.

Another quick question for the Elite 8(I haven't read the entire thread so sorry if already asked)...

Without getting into details and given that its an early build of the game.. do you feel like the WR/DB interaction has the potential to make a significant difference in the gameplay vs previous installments?

if it can't be answered I understand.

        Thanks in advance

The OLB's were running too far inside and hence even when you sent both from the outside, there was no pocket at all. Unlike the 4 man line defenses where the DE's were getting up the field and forming a pocket although too slow for my taste. So I emphasized the OLB's running the arc and like the DE's in the 4-3, they should be on the same level as the QB when he reaches his final step in his drop, unless they are doing a spin move back inside or something. We'll have to wait to see on this one, but I need it since it is my favorite D.
If I have to fear Harrison and make sure he has a TE where he is I will love this game. It would be nice to see freeney coming around the corner and then hit the Tackle with a pretty spin move man that would be great instead of him getting knocked down every play.

                  What!?

That is the biggest statement I have seen anyone on these boards make so far on Madden 10. I hope your not blowing smoke up my arse because 2K5 was great but APF 2K8 animation are seemless and plentiful.

It already has. This is one of the areas that was fairly well tuned, except for a few AI lapses and 2 glitches we found (one of which appears to only occur in franchise mode, the other seems to be fairly fixable).

The one problem I found in the passing game is that slower game speed means passing windows stay open longer. However, so long as the pass rush is balanced, this shouldn't be a problem as you'll only have 3-4 seconds to get rid of the ball anyways.

The matchups are outstandingly well balanced. You don't throw right against the Raiders unless you've got a Larry Fitzgerald over there. Asomugha is just scary over there.

I'd like to see 'em tune it so there's a bit more jostling between defenders and receivers, but they're on the right track on this, definitely.

My general understanding at this point with line interactions is this:

Ian had the entire Line work redone and as a result new or recurring problems have poped up that the CD members would call Ian over and have him address. I am not looking for specific details or anything, I just want to know if I understand this correctly or not.

I am glad there was a community day and am very happy with who was chosen. I am worried however about how many problems were poping up all this time that the dev team wasn't aware of until shown. These guys are human, they do great work, but seriously? At what point do you have to question their ability to ultimately make a true sim game when these fundamentals are still flawed?

This is why I have mixed emotions about CD. I am so glad this issues have been or are being addressed. I am also very upset that there were SO MANY isues to address at this point. Maybe I am being to critical, if so I'm sorry, but this is my perception.

idk if you can say this but did asomugha swat everything in his direction or was he just playing such great coverage that it would be impossible to throw it towards him unless you wanted to get picked off? thanks for responding to almost every question too!
