its basically timing.. be happy that its realistic... otherwise blocking FGS all the time wouldnt be a challenge

Man, the last time i blocked a field goal on ANY football game was NFL Quarterback club '99. The ironic thing about it was it was the last time i ever played it, as i was going to go get madden 2000 that very day.

I blocked my first field goal in this game today. I was offsides though but it still counted because the ball flew in the air and was caught by one of their guys in the endzone, so they got a touchdown and declined the penalty. I was pretty pissed the whole time, even though I got there for once.

blocking field goals is so cheap..just b/c once u get the timing down u take away so many easy points..b/c in the nfl there is rarely any blocke field goals..so i think its cheesy..

Kind of related, at least to field goals, the CPU hardly ever attempts a field goal over 45 yards when I play. Its kind of sad to watch them punt because they end up punting it like 20 yards in the first place. The kicking logic kind of sucks in this game.

#1 - Up the kickers kicking ability in the editor.... it's too low overall.

#2 - Punting 20 yards? What game is this? Maybe your cpu kicking slider is down? Max it.

Use the leftmost blocker and make sure you sub in someone very fast and agile, with a good jumping attribute. I've blocked multiple FGs in Legend mode. (over many many seasons) I can get maybe 2-3 blocks a year this way.

you can actually block every single PAT/FGA if you want

take the right-most player in the FG block formation (i believe CB6 or RB3 if there are less than 6 CBs).

and just jump the snap-- CPU delayed snap is one thing 2K did well... ever notice that the time between the meter charge up & the snap is varied tremendously? Fortunately for cheesers (or unfortunate depending on your POV) the penalty for encroachment/unabedded pursuit) is 5 yds or half the distance & repeat the down... so if a player really wanted to, that person could just keep trying until they succeeded

if you jump the snap correctly you will get a burst that allows you to arrive waaay before the kicker... so dramatic that you'll have actually wait before hitting Y to time the jump. in my experience, with some practice you can jump the snap on a CPU kick approx 15% of the time. (1 out every 5-10 attempts)

man the last time i blocked a field goal or any type of kick is when i was playing madden nfl 07 when all u had to do is move the guy that is rite in front of the center out of the centers path and i would block it and some how return it with lance briggs like 7-9 times a year! but i have only blocked one 1 time in 2k games in all and i was just offside (2yards) !
