Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 to Arrive in Stores Bundled with Wii MotionPlus

Exclusive Offer Available in North America at Launch

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – April 21, 2009 – EA SPORTS™, a label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that the Wii™ version of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 10 will be bundled with Nintendo’s new Wii MotionPlus™ accessory when the title ships to stores in June in North America. In Europe, both Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 and EA SPORTS Grand Slam® Tennis will be bundled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory at launch.

“This exclusive and limited-time offer is exciting news for sports fans who want to enhance their Wii experience for a great value with the new Wii MotionPlus right at launch with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “The functionality of the Wii MotionPlus will help us deliver the authentic, true-to-life sports motion for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 and EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis that will redefine the sports experience on the Wii.”

Both Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 and EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis have been rated “E” by the ESRB. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 has an MSRP of $59.99 when bundled with the Wii MotionPlus. Both products, which ship to stores on June 15 on the Wii in North America, will be available for $49.99 without the accessory.

EA SPORTS has at least five products in development that will launch before the end of 2009 designed specifically for the Wii, including:

    Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 coupled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory gives players an unprecedented authentic golf swing experience and the ability to control and work their golf ball around the course. The Wii MotionPlus accessory also adds to the gameplay experience with an all-new disc golf mode in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10. With Wii MotionPlus, gamers have increased fidelity and complete free motion of their disc and can throw it in any manner they choose. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 will also ship on additional platforms on June 15. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 is developed by EA Tiburon in Orlando, Florida.

    EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis
EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis, launching first on the Wii, makes users feel like they are playing championship tennis in the comfort of their living rooms. Wii MotionPlus elevates the authentic tennis experience to a higher level with precise ball placement and added shot depth. With the accessory, tennis fans will appreciate the freedom to control the backswing of champions like John McEnroe, Serena Williams, Roger Federer or any one of their in-game players, as well as have the ability to run around a forehand or backhand. EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis is developed by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. The product will ship on additional platforms later in the year.

    Re: TW10 for Wii News

That blog alone is almost making me go out and buy a Wii. In fact, if the game is that good with the Wii, in a golf simulation kind of way, then I will buy the Wii just for this game.

Of course I will wait until reviews, and more importantly, OS members impressions on the game. But if everything looks really good then I will pull the trigger.

In the meantime, this looks really cool and has gotten my attention.

Looks like this will be the 1st time for me to buy the same game on 2 different consoles. Thank god my kid made me buy a Wii for him last year. Mario Kart was getting boring.

Hey Divot I know someone mentioned about there being 27 courses in the Wii version. If that's true does that mean it has the 16 courses from the PS3\360 version plus 11 fantasy courses or are they throwing a few more real courses in addition to the 16 already confirmed.

There are 16 courses for the ps3/360, not sure how many for the Wii. The 27 courses are for the frisbee golf.

To clarify, the 27 courses used for frisbee golf are actually played on the licensed courses.

Not sure if there are also Frisbee golf specific playing areas.

So, 27 overall. Not sure which courses though.

My understanding is 27 licensed courses, but can't tell you which ones yet due to NDA.

Very nice, if all those new courses are incorporated into the PGA Tour mode then I may skip the PS3 version all together.

Are the graphics markedly better than the previous Wii versions, I'm not expecting next gen but is it at least somewhat nice to look at?

Damn I wish those 360 discs could have serious storage space like the bluray disc. 27 courses on the 360\PS3 versions would be beyond incredible.

                    1. My understanding is that they are. Can't confirm for certain at this point, but don't see why they wouldn't be.

                    2. I am not one to judge graphics on the Wii as that is the major reason I have not purchased one. The graphics to me seemed to be good enough, but if the Wii had HD resolution capability, that is likely the version I would buy no questions asked.

                    3. Agreed. Now if MS and Sony could copy the Wiimote.......

Apparently there's going to be a true 1:1 motion sensitive controller (called the Sixense) released by the end of the year for PC. It was already controlling TW08 earlier this year at the CES. The head of Sixense recently revealed that the company is working with Electronic Arts to have support for the controller built directly into upcoming EA games.

With this controller and graphics on the PC version possibly being better than Xbox360/PS3 (which should be the case with the graphic settings maxed out running at a higher resolution), it would be the ultimate edition in my opinion (even more so if they include a brand new course architect).

Motionplus is an attachment to the Wii Remote to help the wii more accurately depict the remotes current location in space.

This is going to be a hard choice for me, do I go for the graphically strong PS3 version or do I go with the golf simulator version for the Wii? Decisions, decisions...
