I play 95% of my games online and ever since Madden 2004 things have been going downhill for the online portion of Madden.

Back in Madden 2004 Users were able to do the following in online games...

-Play 5 to 15 minute ranked games
-Choose weather
-Choose wind
-Choose stadium with classic stadiums available
-Choose jerseys
-Able to see who was playing who, what quarter, and time left in the game


Most of that stuff we can't do now and it is very aggravating to us online players. Each year I ask for the devs to give us the OPTION of having those things in future maddens but its always "AHH we will see about it next year".

What I don't understand is why most of that was taking out of the online portion of the game. NOONE complained about any of the above so why take it out? I had people scared to play me in the Germany stadium back in 2004 lol.

We still don't have fully functional online leagues with Full player stat tracking. We've seen the same ole same ole in regards to the online aspect of Madden for the past 5 years. Lets see something innovative for a change regarding online.

I agree that it needs some work, but I think this year they are (or at least need to) focusing on getting the base game working properly

They said that the earliest we'll get on-line info will be E3.

The only nugget that was dropped was that you will now once again be able to save your on-line depth charts.

Online overall is a JOKE. Aside from the very small SIM/str8 up crowd, the majority is a bunch of jokers. I think the overall look/feel of online play is not taken seriously. Why should they have REAL online leagues with full player stat tracting etc.?

My point is, i think they realize online play overall is pathetic. If they can figure out a way to match good players with good players and have cheezers get their own server then maybe it will get a serious look. But as of now, the community for madden OVERALL is the WORST online community when it comes to overall play and sportsmanship.

For every good game you get, you have to wean through several exploiters/cheezers/quitters. It has become a choir and is no longer fun. If you like playing opponents and have to resort to their tactics just to play the game power to ya, i have had my fill with that crap. Nobody wants to play FOOBALL anymore. It has now become who can do what to another player that DOES NOT EXIST in the real sport.

I think i am just fed up with sports games overall online. I have my 6 or so close friends to game with online and there is always head to head and i am fine with that. Online is a joke like the majority of the madden community (no offense to the few GREAT opponents out there and on here.)

I understand where you are coming from. I do the same as well, play with trusted friends. However, it is not fair to us honorable players "Non-Chessers" that our demands do not get answered or even addressed. This area needs to be corrected just AS MUCH as hand towels, franchise etc. I felt that the online topics been ignored for a while now. Separate lobbies, fair-play, customizations etc. Improvements need to be made!

I agree. I love playing with my friends. But after so many games with them, you tend to really learn tendancies and they become somewhat predictable. I would love new challenges against GREAT str8 up opponents, but the overall task of "finding" them is a pain.

For instance, several people send friend requests as "SIM" players. But most turn to cheezers/exploiters after a few games. Not all of them, but most. The problem is most have just gotten USED to how to play even if it is cheeze/exploit tactics because the game caters to that style of play first and foremost and alot of the cheeze/exploit tactics are just the norm.

Hope this is the year of the SIM game. I would really like to...you know...play football. i am tired of the Arcade mess we have now which plays NOTHING like the sport it is supposed to emulate so well.

How about a feedback system online that actually works? On ps2, you had the red or green bars indicator that showed if someone had gotten alot of positive(green) or negative(red) feedback. As it is right now, there's no way of telling if someone is going to qb walk glitch you, or fb dive and rocket catch you the whole game. I know that people will give bad feedback sometimes just because they lose, but the positives of having this back outweigh the negatives.

Ummm yes it does. Your statement is basicly "Why has online NOT gotten the attention it deserves?"

The reason is my post. Online is FILLED to the rim with everyone except a very very very tiny group of str8 up SIM players. That small group wants REAL online season and playoffs, true player stat tracking etc. The majority of the community is the cheezer/exploits who want everything BUT a realistic online experience.

So my point is ....Why should EA take online serious when MAYBE 5% of the community takes it "serious". And by "serious" i mean actually want to play the game of football and drop in a bit of sportsmanship along with it.

How is that not relevent to your post? You ask for features that have gone MIA online. Why do you think that is the case? Most of the madden community wants Ranked Head to Head games and a "quick" arcade romp. I personally think they have given it the attention, but i feel their focus THIS year should be on the GAMEPLAY 1st and foremost. If the gameplay pans out, online will be MUCH MUCH better and maybe they can include some of the missing features.

I am in the same boat. I play most of my games online, and there are many changes I would like to see made.

The work they are doing to the game offline is impressive. The online mode needs to be getting some of the same treatment. Great online modes get you the most players, just look at the XBOX Live top 10 games each week.

My suggestions for online improvements are....

All Jerseys
All stadiums
Weather
Better online stat tracking
Spectator modes
Fair Play modes
SIM/UNSIM ratings
Online Replays in game
Not having to play 4 quarters vs CPU when the opponent quits in the 1st quarter.

I think online play is extremely overrated. I use to wonder where all the complaints came from regarding glitches and what have you. After further study(like its that deep, lol), I found out that people are seeing this **** online constantly and then getting disgruntled with Madden.

I guess thats why I still love Madden to death, I never have and dont have ANY plans of playin that **** online with a bunch of cornball *** motha****as. Other than the OCCASIONAL super qb and speed up catch, I dont see glitches. As far as I'm concerned they can polish it up a bit for the folks that really want it, but I dont think they should make it a priority.
