Just throwing an idea out there. Similar to what EA has done with Fifa and NBA Live. Each user controls a different player on the field. I know it would be difficult with the different formations and changing positions and such, but would you enjoy this kind of online mode for Madden?

We used to play 5 vs 5 back in 2K3 and it was a BLAST!! But... I have to assume this is some type of technical challenge for Tiburon since we haven't even seen 2 vs 2 yet!

It would be amazing if you did it with people you actually knew and all had headsets or whatever and could discuss each play selection and all be on the same page. Be the ultimate football gaming experience in my opinion.

As far as 11 random people playing Madden with no coherent game plan and no way of communicating with each other I don't think it would be worthwhile.

I'd love to see the feature but I think EA would have to make sure the right infrastructure was in place to make it succeed.

It's great in NHL but obviously that is much more simple than having 11 people all with individual assignments every play.

For 11v11 they'd need to expand the blocking / pass rushing controls. I feel right now that those are overly simplified and playing in the trenches wouldn't be enjoyable.

90% of the gamers are not that commited. There are so many leagues that never get finished, it is mind blowing. I play a lot of Gears online and I swear sometimes I can't get to wave 4 without someone quitting and that's just 5 people. Can you imagine someone playing center or right tackle all game? The only positions that would be fun would be RB and QB. This idea may sound interesting on paper, but it would be a diaster online.

There is no way you'll get 22 guys online and all 22 users agree with the teams, and positions they would play for a 4 full quarters. Not happening.

I REALLY do not want sports gaming to go in this direction. If I wanted to play a MMORPG or anything similar, I would have bought World of Warcraft years ago...

Well its not like 1 vs 1 would go away or anything like that. Not sure why you are concerned.

My thought exactly. If they could somehow make blocking fun (because who honestly would play as a linemen the way it is now) then I think it would be great.

Also I think the players would almost have to be required to use a headset in order to play (or at least let the players vote to kick someone out).

I could definitely see how this could be a great feature if it was done properly but I just don't see it being done in the next couple of years because there are more important issues to address.

I'm concerned because you can't just "add" something into a video game. Something this large would take up three important things:
                  1) Time, 2) Disc Space, and 3) Money.

I'm concerned because I would rather they spend their time, disc space, and money on improving gameplay and franchise.

Well we couldn't do 11 vs 11.....Who would wanna play LT or C for a whole game? I'd like it if it was only skill positions.

I'm not sure 11 vs. 11 would work well. A few issues I see:

                      1) It would be tought actually getting nearly that many people together. At least, getting a group of people you want to play with together.

                      2) The line play probably wouldn't be incredibly thrilling for most people.

                      3) The fact that plays would be so integral to the experience, unlike similar modes in hockey or basketball games. Who'd get to call plays, would certain people really be willing to run 5-yard-outs if that was what the play called, etc.

                      4) There's only one ball. A WR is productive if he touches the ball 10 times in a 60-minute game. For 90% of the game, receivers would be watching the QB or the RB play.

I love the idea for basketball and hockey games, I don't really like the idea for football or baseball games.

                        No.

I hope EA doesnt even waste time trying to do anything like this.

I guarantee most people dont want to play OLine. Even if you include expanded blocking controls, it wouldnt be much fun. There are some that would do it, but Im willing 90% of people mainly want to play skill positions.

Get it up to 5 vs 5. That is ideal. 11 vs 11 is not.

Na... it would be just like FIFA, you'll get those 2 or 3 guys that run and do whatever they want ruining the experience.

Good point. But, I think playing with friends could be very fun. I think it would work well if it's 5 vs. 5. Allow everyone to choose their position for that particular game, but make it changeable between halfs, or something similar. And if someone leaves, just have them replaced by bots. Once the game starts, you can only hear, and chat with your team, until halftime, or until the game is over. Each position just needs to be more deep, to make it more skill based. It could work.

Sure... I mean, someone could want colored cleats over anything else... where someone could want camera angles over anything else... priorities are different for everyone....

However, I know Ian said he wants to reach a point to where Madden will never be compared to 2k again... and ... I have to say in that regard, that I was playing on-line 5 vs 5 in 2k3... .I'm just sayin
