Earlier I thought it was just a BS patch, now Ive learned its a complete cockup, for me anyhow. I couldn't be more disappointed.

Im going back to NHL 09...and maybe in a few months the issues will be solved.

And by then, what's the point? In the end, you do the best you can with what you have. In my humble opinion, guys like Knight, Ridin, and Wookie (there you go man) saved this game. SCEA are the ones who dropped the ball.
I think you misunderstood me this isnt a knock on anybodies work or time frame and yes who knew ?
I just always thought if rosters were started after the second update they would have less caps to create ect IMO
      Thanks to all Rostermen

That is what I meant as I pm Mk about this 4 months ago .
But its a time thing
I wonder if SCEA could release one like week 2 again ?

I just got done with a game. I went to the replay vault and there were no players on the field during the replay!?! Anyone else?

Once your rosters are re-loaded into the vault will the career stat glitch be gone? I've been trying to keep up all day but it's impossible. I apologize if this has been answered.

Russell. May I please have a reply to this message. I put this in the bug thread and some other thread, but I have never received an acknowledgment that it was read. I was hoping the patch would fix this, but it has not.

May I please have an acknowledgment that this bug report is at least documented, so that the next patch can possibly fix it?

What game mode did the bug happen in?
              Online (offline works fine)

How did it happen or what did you do to trigger it? Can you recreate it?
When I attempt to hit & run, my batter will not swing at the ball. Sometimes, the animation of the swing will happen, but the ball will never be hit. If the pitch is a strike, the announcer will say that is was a called strike, and the slo-mo replay will show that the bat never left my shoulders. This is true even if I power swing (meaning it wasn't just a check swing).

This makes it impossible to hit & run, and very dangerous to steal with two strikes, as I won't be able to swing should the pitch come flying through the zone. This also makes it dangerous to send the runners with 2 outs and a full count, which is standard practice in baseball.
I have had many instances where I swung at ball four, but found myself trotting down to first base. Also, as I was trying to swing at a pitch while stealing, only to miss even though it was right down the middle, I would have to hear Matt say that it was a "called strike three".

How often can the bug be reproduced?
              99.9% of the time.

I understand the thought behind it, but for me it's always caused more harm than good. I like to emulate the real lineups before each game. I usually set them up the following day after the real games have been played (yeah it's fanatical, I don't deny it). It's such a pain to have all my efforts thwarted by some bogus cpu logic and to constantly get that message about the coach thinks "so and so" could use a day off, I'll rest them when the real guys rest. On top of that it causes all these other unnecessary problems (RBI men leading off, the DH always being exhausted, etc...just silly). Same goes for the pitcher confidence stuff, it's way overdone IMO. Leave it in the game for those who want it but I'm begging SCEA to please give us the option of turning this stuff OFF already and let us play our games the way we want to.
That's exactly what I do. I'm behind the season now anyway, and at the pace I play (and with also playing Red Sox and Twins franchise), I won't get caught up. I use struts thread to do the daily transactions. At least I found a workaround. It's a pain, but it'll do. Also a good thing I happen to have 2 controllers (2 sixaxis and 1 dualshock actually).

No problem. Thanks for the fast response. I plan on playing one entire season so the career stats won't bother me much. I think it's time to load Knight's rosters, download the patch, start a franchise, and enjoy this game...

Anyone know if the workaround for retirements still works? (where you save and keep renetering offseason until you get the configuration you want, as it's randomized).

I forgot to check when I was simming, but A-Rod retired after one season due to "poor FA market"...lol. If nobody is sure, it's no biggie. I'll figure it out when I test run again tomorrow. Poor A-Rod can't catch a break in this game...lol

                      Anyway, just curious.

I guess they didn't program "greed" into the game .

You know, I defended SCEA with all I had earlier today because I knew that there was SOME reason for the patch not to work like they intended it to. And I believe they deserved the benefit of the doubt because everything that I've seen since I started playing The Show(08) has been top notch.

With that said, after getting home from work, sitting down and finding out that SCEA did get it wrong and it seems they aren't going to make it right, or maybe they tried but cant make it right, it's very hard to swallow. Last year had some buggy things, but the heart and soul of a baseball game....they got it on point. No stat glitch, no roster control problems...it was perfect in that regard. So how does the current years game regress?? It just makes no sense to have the issues its having after NOT having those issues last year. It just makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes.

With all that said, the game itself...nobody can touch it, it's the best. It's just a shame that everyone has to sacrifice what they really love about a baseball game, whether it's stat freaks, lineup freaks(me) or RTTS......it seems all of us had to choose what's more important, and it shouldn't be that way....especially when you spend 60 bucks.

One thing I hope we learn from this, and possibly the developers. We tell them every year to load the game up with more and more and more code (and remember, things like shadowing is code). We want everything down to the last shoelace perfect in the game and we want every stat known to baseball included. This might be the time to rethink somethings in this regard. Perhaps next year we can hope that what they have given us to date is addressed before one new thing gets put in this wonderful game, and it IS a wonderful game.

Me personally, Knight's lineup fix does the trick and I'm gleefully getting started tomorrow when I get home. Have been playing franchise games with my friend up here in Escondido and we had some really fantastic games today.

That said, I hope what I've said it as least given some consideration. More is not always better.
