Just the thought of online draft makes me quiver...

Just watching NFL network today, I really thought about it..

Your online season is over, you begin scouting prospects, and then on one dedicated evening you take part in a Madden Draft, with 31 other GM's trying to push their franchise towards the Super Bowl...

I can see scribbled lists, notes, guys you think are studs, guys you think are busts...

...You're waiting for your pick, a screen pops up...the Jacksonville GM wants to move up, he offers a trade, you counter, he agrees...

...Now it's your turn, you look at who's available compared to your handwritten chart, you turn to your buddies who are a part of it with you, "Do we take this LT or do we go big and take an explosive WR guys?"...The discussion heats up....

..Eventually you take your guy, and hope he's everything you wanted him to be and more....

...You continue throughout, looking to add depth and value, and at the end you look at who you got and you pat yourself on the back...

Anyone else hoping for online franchise???

This one mode would make me buy madden over NCAA this year hands down.

a real online draft like that would be phenomenal! but they would have to let us set the timer for each pick and break up the rounds into different days just as a customizable feature. (and also allow for cpu auto-picking, just like in fantasy football, but hopefully based on your own "draft board")

Its in the NBA games, 2k and EA I think. I know for sure 2k's version. I can only dream of being able to draft in Madden.

The draft in NBA2k is only one season and doesn't offer the chance to trade Picks.

i know its baby steps, but if Madden 10 had this I don't know what I'd do. I'm not even the biggest Madden Supporter. But, I'd love the game forever if they pull it off.

we can only hope this happens. would make me play madden year round and add more longivity. MLB 09 the show had it online, would be nice to see in a nfl game.

I can tell you that back in the days of the old Madden PC online franchises the drafts were insane.

You basically spent a week looking over all the guys in the draft pool, figuring out who you were targeting, ranking them like the NFL guys do, and then praying some of the guys fell to your spot.

While there was nothing like having a stud you fell in love with fall to you, there's nothing worse than seeing somebody you coveted get snatched up by your biggest rival.

I can also tell you trading up and down didn't happen too much. People value the draft picks a lot more than some folks do in the NFL - in part because they tend to not be as risky - especially those high in the draft. A first rounder is almost always a stud and there really aren't a lot of busts.

Most of the trades went down before the deadline during the season - when you have one pack looking to bolster for a playoff run and another pack looking to rebuild.

Btw, drafts were also LOOOOOONG. We're talking three hours long.

Could you imagine a team play online franchise. Now that would be something. You would need some dedicated players. I wouldn't mind if there were only 4 teams of 5 people and the last 28 were CPU.

This would be cool. Your team would probably have to consist of friends, or it might fall apart pretty quickly.

I would love an online franchise for drafting players. But I think I'd like it more if you simmed through the seasons and not played them. Not sure if I would want to play through 16 games every season. But I may be in the minority on that one.

Oh its that much fun and more! We'd do these on-line drafts (using a chat room) for the PS2 game, and it was some of the best fun ever. We'd use up a weekend and draft for about 6 hours or so each day for a 25 man roster... it was crazy!

There is not a better feeling in the draft world when you take a guy and the guy that's picking after you types out: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

maaan, drafting was fun in those leagues, i played in a PS2 league, we used that website, i forgot the name of it, but it kept all the stats and everything.

I was the falcons, and i drafted Justin King CB from Penn state, he had 98spd and 99 acc. Had Dante Hall on the other corner.

Picked up Roy Williams in FA (this was back when he was rated good in madden lol) and i had Brandon Meriweather at FS

My secoundary was beastly!!!!!!
too bad we never finished the season lol

This is my biggest fear right there..a lot of casual people will just say F this after their team doesn't win the super bowl every year...I like a lot of you guys would love the challenge of turning a team around, but the casual crowd tends to get bored quick when they aren't winning...
