    Using RAZR's Pitch Edits w/ Knight's Rosters

First off, I just want to say how good the community has been here. It's refreshing to go to boards etc. and not have an overflow of, well, jackasses. Just wanted to get that out there.

I'm (finally) about to start my franchise tonight, and I'm trying to decide what rosters that I am going to use. It's either going to be Knight's Stock or my own variation of SCEA's last update.

I've weighed the pros and cons of both. Knight's work with minor league rosters is outstanding, but it has the historical stat glitch (I really am not too hung up on that, though). My own SCEA roster would not have the glitch, but wouldn't be nearly as complete, as I would probably only do the Cards' minors.

The biggest overriding factor for me is RAZR's pitching edits that are embedded in Knight's rosters. I'm not sure I want a complete overhaul of all the pitchers from the stock ones (sinkers being in place of 4-seamers, etc).

I know RAZR and company has done an outstanding job with them, and I've followed a few threads on the subject. But I'm not totally decided though. What is the overriding reason behind all the changes? How do people feel about them? How do they alter gameplay? (I've had limited time with them...I'm a new dad.)

Any help or additional info would be appreciated!

If you want a realistic simulation of baseball, id go with Knight and Co's rosters.

I've been playing exhibition games while waiting for the final set and it plays a good game of baseball. Try hitting Derek Lowe's sinker on Legend with your fiance being ditzy by walking in front of the tv every 5 mins.

You still see 98-89 mph fastballs, everything just has more movement. Like in real baseball, you'll see a sinker pitcher that throws the ball higher in the zone and visually you'd swear it was a fastball on a line. They're great rosters, everyone did a great job, get em, and enjoy them, they work with the patch too ya know.

Well I started my franchise and had Hudson going in game one. Razr has him with a sinker, slider, splitter, change, and curve. The sinker acts like a fastball more than it does a true sinker. The change is devestating and the splitter acts like a true sinker.

Moral of the story, I'd just trust it and go with it. He obviously has done a lot of research, there appears to be a method to the madness.

I had the same concern a few nights ago and what I was told was Razr focuses more on the movement of the pitches a pitcher gets than the actual pitch arsenal a pitcher may have.

Just download Knight's set and go with it, it's really well done imo.

Only thing I don't like is Arod is in AAA and since I play with roster control off there isn't a thing I can do about it.

          Thanks...
...and note Ransom's durability....edit to 0.....when he gets hurt and A-Rod comes up..put Ransom's rating back.

Multi.....try Razr's edits...fantastic IMO. I wouldn't put them in the set if I didn't think they were that good.
If you still have doubts after at least trying it....I am currently putting a set together...with the FullMinors....already has the position players back to SCEA default...and I'm doing the same with the pitchers....for those that really can't get past it.
(but please...give it a go first!)

I play with injuries off Knight so that won't do me any good. Ransom won't be getting hurt.

I play with the Braves so it's hardly noticable but I would like A/Rod to be on the major league roster for the Yanks.

              Ah....sorry.
Do you play with trades?...Trade for Ransom....then trade him back.

Yeah I do play with trades, I might try that and see if that works.

Thanks for all the comments, always nice to get some good feedback.

I think I'm going to go with Knight's stock for a few weeks and check the results, I have no doubt Knight utilizes them for a reason. Although I can't say that I wouldn't be interested in checking out that new roster you are working on with stock pitching (damn man, you are a machine when it comes that stuff...I wish us policemen had the kind of spare time you firefighters have).

On a side note, I played a game last night with my dad (who before The Show '09 hadn't played a videogame since Bases Loaded...he used to track stats in a notebook). I told him I downloaded a new and improved roster for us to try (Knight's). We started with my team up at the plate. He just kinda stared at his pitch selection for a second, then he said, "Where the hell is my fastball at." I thought that was kinda funny.

Again, thanks, and I hope you appreciate my cop/firefighter humor Knight!

                      I do...it's full tilt here in N.Y.C.
Not only am I the only person in my family who went the F.D. route.....but I actually "defected" from the P.D. nearly 14 years ago.
My uncle(hardcore 60's-70's narcotics detective) almost didn't speak to me the first couple of years after the move.

Glad you'll give them a go!

I still remember going over his game notes, checking win-loss records and batting averages, checking out passwords (sooo glad the days of the password are dead and gone). I think I was probably 8 or so at the time. I can recall his disappointment when the season "ended" with a quick screen announcing that he had won the pennant. No playoffs or World Series. Baseball games have come a long way, to say the least.

I wonder if my son (he's only 13 weeks) will be watching me someday, scribbling in a notebook like I do now while playing "The Show" or whatever the premier baseball game will be. It all comes full circle in the end, I suppose.

(ps) Paste was an absolute beast in Bases Loaded!

LOL!!! Bases Loaded....the last video baseball game where you could actually see the brawl after a player charged the mound. I remember sometimes starting a game just to get a fight going. Those were the days.
