Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
While all the hype was building for the '09 version, I recall it being mentioned that there were many things they were working on for next year's game that were fairly substantial changes. (Things like the collision detection, possibly weather, etc.) I now wonder if all the work that began on the changes for next year's version is potentially causing the issues we're seeing in this year's? (E.G. more code that is able to be affected, and potentially in a bad way, by patches released for this year's version). It could be that code we are in no way seeing any direct effect of is getting "activated" by code put in for the patch and as a result leading to issues elsewhere. Like if there is code in place for a future feature that impacts the current features in the game, and when certains sequences occur this code is "activated" and then alters the way existing features work.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Shady,
To do this, do the following...
1) Turn on PS3 but do not go into the game, just go to your XMB screen.
2) Go to the "Game" heading, and you will see "Saved Data Utility" (These are your franchise, roster, settings, etc. saves) Delete all of them.
3) Now, still under "Game" heading, find "Game Data Utility". This is the BIG file that was installed onto your hard drive when you first fired up the game. Delete that as well.
Now you are at scratch, start up The Show, it will tell you there is an update available (The Patch). Download that and then it will download and install itself. Then it will begin to copy files to your HDD.
Make Sense?Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Ok... I can not read 250 pages so hopefully someone can help me...
I read that Knight released a new roster that works with the patch. What happens to the people franchise that are using his old rosters? Do the freeze or what? I am using Ridins old set so I am guessing they will do the same. Any help would be greatComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Thanks. Yup, that makes sense. I haven't really done a helluva lot yet so there isn't much to lose. So once I clean everything off and install the path (1.06), I should be able to download Knight's V5 roster and play a franchise without any issues whatsoever (e.g the missing in game and post game replays) Or is that still debatable? Hence the mini-patch.
Once you clean everything off using the steps I gave you, you will be back to "out of the box" (ie...brand new game). Once you start the game, it will say "Update 1.06 available" (or something thereabouts. Accept the update, then let it do its thing. Then the game will start. You will then have the 6-7 minute wait while it installs 3GB of MLB 09 The Show information to your HDD again. Then you are patched and ready.
Secondly....When you patch the game, you can ONLY use Knight's roster(s) Version 4-6. Versions 1-3 are for PRE-PATCH ONLY!!!!
And finally, you are set and ready to begin a franchise. The "mini-patch" is only going to fix the replay issue, and Russell from SCEA gave us the go ahead that the "mini-patch" will NOT affect franchises that have already been started AFTER the 1.06 patch was installed.

v1-v2 and v3(I have to re-upload for Millennium) will work with no patch
v4-v5 and v6 will only work with a patched version of the game. Any roster that is A. new off of the vault or SCEA updates won't work in an unpatched game even if someone else puts it on a download source for you other than SCEA or the Vault now or B. Has been on a PS3 that has been patched.(the patched game adds some files to the roster saves and once added those rosters will become invalid on unpatched games)
Good news though....I will take v2 and v3 and add Struts update and have those available for those guys that don't patch.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Well I have finally come to the realization I am probably going to have to start my season and RTTS over.
Very disappointed, to say the least. Still I get more enjoyment out of this baseball game than I do any other sports game I have ever played.
Not to mention on Tuesday I have to lay several people off, so this is really small potatoes on my list of major league bummers.
When the replay glitch patch comes out, I'll start a new season. Just have to figure out which team. Or maybe I'l use a fantasy draft. In the meantime I'll just play NFL Head Coach.Comment

So if V1 thru 6 are off the same base how can some be pre patch only and some be post patch. The only thing he could have changed is the information on the file not the structure of the file. If someone could go into more detail how some are pre and some are post i would appreciate it.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Then that would make sense based on the game adding files post patch (from what i heard).Last edited by dkrause1971; 05-03-2009, 01:05 AM.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Here is the deal fellas.
Once you patch your game...any roster you put in the game...gets updated by the patched version of the game.
THAT particular roster will then no longer be a valid save for a non patched version of the game.
v1-v2 and v3 of my rosters were made and uploaded to sendspace from a non-patched machine.....therefore they will
A. Work in a non-patched version of the game
B. Work in a patched version of the game(because once you load it....the game updates it...this is for the vault)
But if you download from those links....you will always be able to use them in a non-patched game(plus I have them saved for the future ...just in case)
v4-v5 and v6 were updated on my machine that has the patch(at the time I didn't know(strike two Kolbe :wink
...that it would change the structure)...
HOWEVER....I will make non-patched versions of those files if the need arises.
SCEA is conspiring to make me blind!

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Just a general question...
Are there any fielder collisions in the game? Collision detection pretty realistic?
In 2k9, you just constantly run through the other fielders and it drives me nuts. How are the collisions handled in the game?Twitter - WTF_OS
