More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
Kind've hard not to see this one coming. Depending on what happens, this could spell BIG trouble for EA and NCAA (the game), or at least the ability to edit its players:

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)

Oh yeah, wasn't Carpenter younger and given the team's endorsement over Keller. This tells you what type of c.u.n.t. keller is.Comment

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
So it rankled Keller to note that "with rare exception, virtually every real-life Division I football or basketball player in the NCAA has a corresponding player in Electronic Arts' games with the same jersey number, and virtually identical height, weight, build and home state. In addition Electronic Arts often matches the player's, skin tone, hair color, and often even a player's hair style."
In other words, the complaint contends it was no coincidence that, say, Kent State running back Eugene Jarvis is redshirt junior from Pennsylvania wearing No. 6 who stands just 5-foot-5 and weighs 170 pounds -- and the "randomly generated" Kent State RB in EA's NCAA 2009 game also happens to be a redshirt junior from Pennsylvania wearing No. 6 and standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 170 pounds (who also has the same dark skin tone as Jarvis).Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
Meh, it's such a grey area, it'd be a hard case to win; it would really boil down to how the court interprets likeness. He mentions Kent State RB Eugene Jarvis, a 5'5" 170lbs black kid from PA; I'm willing to bet that height, weight and location matches at least 10 people on this message board alone. He wears #6? NCAA rules state multiple players can wear the same number so it's not exclusive to him, could be another 5'5" 170 pound black kid from PA.
And I've never seen Jarvis' or Keller's face in any NCAA videogame, matter fact they look like almost every other player since there's roughly 15 faces per skin tone in the game. Besides EA has more than enough money to retain legal counsel while this case stays in civil court limbo, does Keller?Comment

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
Why stop there, Sam? What about Nike, Reebok and all the other companies that make replica cfb jerseys with real players numbers but no names? Surely that's pretty much the same thing, right?
To echo the general tone of this thread --- what a monumental tool.Comment

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
lol @ this. So he'll play in college for free and the university can have $ 3million dollar gates for every home game, $1 million in merch. sales etc. But he has a problem with a video game, in which he is not directly referenced?
These games are going on 20 years old, and this guy thinks he's the first to come up with the "brilliant" idea of a lawsuit.
I say EA just change the weight by a lb. or two, and keep it moving.
Not only that, but he is suing EA AND the NCAA? Even if he got past EA,nobody ever beats the NCAA.Comment

Wait, he probably doesn't have any.Comment

Re: More Legal Trouble for EA (NCAA related)
Someone should tell him he got an education at 2 pretty good schools. Most of his peers who went to ASU or Nebraska could have spent anywhere from $20,000-$80,000+ to get the same level.
Where do you think that money came from Sam? Part of it comes from licensing deals with companies such as Nike, EA and others. So perhaps you should pay some of that money back before going ahead with this.Comment
