Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
Good find Shake. While I'd too love to see realtime celebrations/presentation ala MLB2k9, I'm in the camp that gameplay fixes are far more important. Animations animations animations, less tape to tape passing, a better implimentation of board play, puck physics and player seperation (scrubs not playing like Ovie or Crosby) are the top of my list of things that right now MUST be addressed.
Edit: after watching part two, Tape to tape passing, goalies, and dynasty features. If all 3 of these are addressed to the point of being actually better and not just bandaid fixes.
For me personally that will get me by for another year as those 3 along with board play and puck physics (fingers crossed) are the biggest gripes I had with 09. To hear Mr Littman say they had a guy on Goaltending all year long goes along way in giving me confidence that this team really is listening to us, the hardcore fans.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
Littman said that if you have watched the playoffs this year in regards to passing. The same will be possible in game.
I sure hope the CPU AI will be smart enough to move into open space where they can receive a pass and make the cycling along the boards possible without create a play.
In fact i hope that offensive play will be very fluid and CPU players will move intelligently to be open for passes and shots etc. instead of the static don't move when you are in your set position making it hard to pass to someone to keep the puck in the zone.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
I talked with Redshirt at length about the passing system a while back and it certainly sounds like he wants to go for a more "open passing model". I made sure he was aware of a thread that myself and Joborule (I think) had put some good ideas in regarding a more sophisticated system. He said those ideas were in line with what he and others wanted to see implemented and said that he was already experimenting with ways to make it more "open"...Comment

Let's hope they also worked on the goalie AI and not make every goalie play the same. Hope they made the goalies with difference between styles clearly play differently

You'd think with Littman being a former professional goaltender that he'd be all over that aspect of the game...Comment

Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
if done correctly, goalie mode can be one of the most fun features in any sports video game. so far, it has not been done correctly. hopefully this year will be different.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
the one thing i hope they fix is when the cpu gets a penalty on your end of the ice and your goalie goes sprinting off the ice and your left there standing in front of your own net holding the puck only to be hit by the cpu defender then to see the puck go trickling in the net for them to get a cheap goal.
that to me was a big bug id rather see my goalie leave my net once im out of my own zone with the puck after any kind of penalty is called besides the fact no goalie in the world woud go running to get off the ice until you clear your own zone.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Producer Blog: Part One
To be fair, I think he and his team have been doing that since 07 on a yearly basis. Do they have time to fix every issue that we the community have quams with? No not always as fast as we'd like. But I think they have a pretty decent track record when it comes to actually wanting to move the NHL sku in a more sim direction.Comment

"See some things in the past get added again"
Sounds like playoff mode, and hopefully fantasy draft.
I think the NHL team has done a remarkable job since 07. The series was in the gutter prior to 06 and they turned it into in my opinion the best sports game out right now.
Not many devs listen to the community as well as they do. I haven't seen a studio release as many patches as they have to fix glitches and such.
"No glitch goals" seems like a bit of a stretch but at least they're keeping their eyes open. I appreciate that.Comment

I'm praying that it's out of town scores. My buddies and I used to love watching these between periods. To the point that anyone who touched the controller during intermission was banished from the Genesis for the night."See some things in the past get added again"
