Ian said that they were just showing off the technology, but it would be better tuned before released.-MattComment

Yea ian has already said that want be a problem. Some of you worry a little to much sometime. Just chill out. I know the past few years has been crappy and all not that good. But Ian is in charge and he is doing a great job with the community. So I am not worrying at all.Comment

We're just talking about how we see the game pre-release. We're not losing sleep or nothing.

As excited as I am about Madden 10, I'm with you on this one.
It seems to me that Pro-Tak is overdone at this point, and what scares me the most is this gang tackling, it seems to me from the videos we have seen (I know it's a work in progress) that gang tackling happens waay to forced and not natural at all.San Francisco 49ers

Saying this is getting as tiring as explaining to people why madden can't use ESPN in game presentation...Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Pro-TAK Animation System
Didn't hear him say anything about 2k. I heard him mention that too many animations or longer animations would cause you to lose control of the player and not be able to move another direction. Where did he say,"Just like in 2k games?" Just not hearing that.
Yeah, that's also an admission that their animations look better too. So far Madden has had neither, and the animations / rendering is still off even in Madden '10 (not to mention the lack of momentum in the game). They still have several revisions before they match 2K on that front. When I no longer see jerky/stilted movement, isntant direction/speed changes (which may be fixed), and can see/feel a players momentum during a play, then Madden will be on the same level in those areas.
But again we know who you work for!
lol it's two years old. And unlicensed. If that's the case then it's a sad because it should've long been a distant memory given the situation. Really it's going to be unfair to Madden to directly compare the games; sort of like a 25yr-old Lebron bragging that he beat a 45yr-old Michael Jordan. He's supposed to. But if he didn't, it'd look bad on LeBron. And if it was a jab at Ortiz I don't understand that either - people seem to forget every next gen EA sports game struggled in their first 1-2 next gen iterations, not just Madden. And they all were working from "new technology". I don't think that was a David Ortiz decision to go that route/start from scratch; I'd assume it was whoever was over top of them that made the decision to develop the games in that manner. I'm not a Ortiz apologist by any stretch but Madden was the one EA sports title that was a launch game. So he didn't even benefit from additional development time that the others did (all just imo). Even the devs themselves have said in retrospect it would've been smarter to take the route The Show and NBA2K did in terms of upgrading.
As far as control goes, we won't know until we play M10 but I don't think you should have total control of the player. I understand they want to get away from the tugboat-like responsiveness of Madden last gen, but the answer isn't giving players total control of their movement imo. It's not good to be locked into overly drawn out animations anymore than it is to be able to have lightning-quick responsiveness to move in any direction. People should have to judiciously use turbo/acceleration and have to pay for attempting to over-pursue, or run as fast as you can and change direction. We'll see how it plays out though
