1 year ago I would have suggested the Cincinnati Reds

    1. It's not a financial powerhouse
    2. It's got good young starting pitching
    3. It has a nice ballpark

They did away with some of their veteran contracts though in trading Griffey and Dunn.

Take a look at the Jays - having a great season IRL so far.

      1. Not a financial powerhouse. They do have money to spend but since they're in the same division as the Red Sox and Yanks, it's never enough.

      2. SP - anchored by Roy Halladay who should have a few damn good years left (best pitcher in baseball over the last 6/7 years in my opinion). After Halladay, they have Shaun Marcum, Dustin McGowan, Jesse Litch, Ricky Romero, David Purcey and Brett Cecil all of whom are A or B prospects, in their 20's and major league ready. Add in young, top-notch relievers such as Jeremy Accardo, Jesse Carlson and Brandon League and you have a pretty solid staff.

      3. Not a ton of vetern contracts do try and unload. Vernon Wells would probably get some attention in the game if you tried to trade him. BJ Ryan is certainly making a ton of money for his production. The Jays have no depth with fielders in the minors so you have to be careful who you unload. You would need a replacement for any position.

      4. OK the stadium sucks so you can't win them all. Lots of games in Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards and Fenway though.

Since your using Knights roster the Rangers have a great young pitcher named Neftali Feliz, an aging Micheal Young, and a beautiful ball park. Plus I just won my 3rd straight World Series with them in my Franchise.

You have played three seasons already? Do you have any threads on off season advice or other activities that have happened in the following years?

The Tigers fill out all of your requirements there. I'd say they almost have an abundance of pitching. Verlander, Galarraga at the top, plus Willis and Bonderman who start out in the minors, and Robertson who's actually a long relief man now. Plus they have a lot of guys in the pen who throw some major heat, I think it's harder to find a guy that doesn't throw at least 95 on the fastball.

With all of the secondary franchises I've started and restarted, I haven't yet deleted my very first one with the Tigers which is saying something for me as I have such a short attention span for a team. There's a nice three-way dogfight going on in the Central for me in the middle of May, I'm leading by 1 game and Chicago and Minnesota are tied for second.

I would recommend the Cardinals. You got Albert Pujols who is considered the best player/hitter in baseball. You can certainly build around him as he's only 29 years old. You have a young ace in Adam Wainwright, not to mention Chris Carpenter. Your outfield is very good with Ankiel, one if the top 10 prospects in baseball Colby Rasmus and the all might Ryan Ludwick. Possibly one of the top 7th, 8th and 9th guys in the mlb in a few years (Kyle McClellan, Jason Motte, Chris Perez). You have Glaus at third for at least the rest of this year and a very powerful rookie who is compared to Scott Rolen at third, David Freese. Don't forget IMO the best catcher right now Yadier Molina. Also the cards farm system is in the top 10 in all of baseball (Brett Wallace, Tyler Greene, Shane Robinson, PJ Walters, Pete Kozma ect...)
What's with this chick? Does she have beer flavored nipples?

Giants could be good. I was thinking of playing as them, but their hitting is a bit weak and I don't know enough about baseball to know how to best tweak the roster.

If you know what you're doing though they have some great pitching, a great stadium, nice uniforms and some history behidn them

Unless the "nice" ballpark part is really important to you, I'd say the Marlins no doubt. The starting pitching staff is lights out and really young. And the Fish are definitely not a financial powerhouse

The Royals would be another option. They have good young pitching, and a newly renovated ballpark. They don't have that many veteran contracts, but Jose Guillen would always be a trade option. They're a team that needs work, but could be built into a contender pretty quickly.

                            1. The Orioles have 13.6 mil in free money when you start with them.
                            2. The Orioles young SP (Brian Matuz, David Hernandez, Chorey Spoon, Troy Patton will all be in AAA or Double A. *Bonus* Matt Wieters at catcher)
                            3. Their Veterans that you could move. Aubrey Huff, Ty Wiggington, Melvin Mora, Brian Roberts. Basically you could move the whole infield as this teams future stars with the outfield, and the catcher.
                            4. Camden Yards was one of the first "retro" ball parks, it also has a nice backdrop and is a bit of a hitters park.

Yeah, I was going to say the Royals before I decided on Detroit. Either one would be a good option, really.
