Now, how many Madden 10 buyers played APF 2k8? 10,000? (How many copies did they sell?) And in respect to 2k5, even if say 500k of the Madden 10 players played 2k5, that was 5 years ago...I can't expect someone to remember their game style from back then.

A very high percentage of the Madden fanbase is used to "not" having a pocket. So on pro mode, we make the pocket a much safer place to be than we do on all-pro. So if Nate wasn't "feeling the pressure" that much, that's actually how we want it to be. It would be a total dumb move to make it so casual Madden fans get sacked every other play the first time they boot up Madden NFL 10. Nate (and everyone) can always step up a skill level if they want it to feel like an NFL experience.

However, the end tuning goal is to make you pay if you actually drop way out of the pocket...but it's early and that's not there yet.
I think it would be nice to have a hardcore Madden player boot up the game and play on all-madden and write a review, cause that's what I assume much of the OS posters will be playing on.

I do think it's critical that beginners get to enjoy the game, but the sim players need to know how it's going to play, even if we're in the minority.

Like that part. Just hoping that every level becomes less Madden, more NFL. Not so much about only the pocket issue, just that every level makes you think about fundimental football strategy. And that you can't go for it on 4th and 1 against a GL formation because the games tackling is sound enough to stop you unless you either use PA or have a beast like a Bettis or Jacobs with a powerful OL. That stuff has to go to be "sim."

Is there any chance we could get some footage of the game on All Madden before it drops? It seems like every year gaming sites play on pro or rookie.

First of all, it was NOT a review. Second, how did he rip Madden?

He said great things about the game, and pointed out some obvious issues that are expected in a pre-beta build. How's that "ripping" Madden?

Playing Madden NFL 10 with the new Pro-Tak system in place makes you realize just how large a gap there was from every other game in the series to real football. But that's not the only reason why this year's Madden is looking like one of the best to date. I got the chance to spend some time with Madden 10 and came away very pleased with the new, re-focused development strategy employed with this year's game.
Another big change that I actually didn't realize until I got my hands on NCAA Football 10 is the change in the general game speed of Madden. I was told by a producer that this year's game has been reduced in speed by 5% to bring it more in line with reality. Now guys supposedly run a realistic 40-yard sprint, unlike before. Also more realistic are the jukes that you'll see from running backs. Gone are the days of running full-steam ahead and then doing a hop-step to the left or right. Now it's a much more subtle and realistic looking movement with the same desired effect.
When I did feel pressure the controller rumbled to let me know that defenders were breathing down my neck. On a few occurrences they even got close enough to force a duck pass rather than a perfect spiral like you would've seen in previous years.
Secondly, quarterback animations have been greatly improved from last year. It's not something that I found to impact gameplay, but when I was shown screenshots of marquee quarterbacks hurling the pigskin the changes were very recognizable. Whether it's the position of their left hand on the ball when dropping back or how the ball is oriented in relation to their body when bringing it back to throw, every quarterback throws the ball differently. Just like in the real NFL. And yes, these authentic styles trickle down to the kickers as well.
Presentation, something that was seriously lacking in the first Madden iterations on current-gen systems, has seen a nice overhaul. Pre-game you'll notice camera angles that show concession stands handing hot dogs to fans and people making their way to their seats. During the action there will be detailed cutscenes (not the low-resolution models like in last year's game) showing players warming up on the sideline. If your quarterback is taking a licking on the field you'll see him trot over to the sideline and pick up a phone to talk to the coach's box. The chain gang is also present, as are all of the refs that should be on the field. And yes, you can truck into them.

Just don't run into them too hard or you might injure one of your star players. Do that, and you'll be greeted with a new injury mechanic. It won't happen immediately – depending on the severity of the injury your man might need to be helped off the field by other players – but once the problem is diagnosed you'll be shown a screen that tells you what's injured, how severe it is and then you'll be given the option to put him back in the game. You'll be given a rating that tells you how good he'll be once he's back on the field and you'll see the likelihood of him re-injuring himself. It's sort of like Blitz The League, but without the steroid use.

2.Meter is off but you still button Mash
3.Everything is turned off and it goes by CPU logic

They got it optional. Have to find the thread.

Well Ian it is good to here from you. It tells me you still care bout us and you ain't left us hanging. But Ian eveything just about in this blog looks real good. Just please make sure your team adjust the defense stuff. So the defense can get to the QB more. Giving the QB tons of time in the pocket is not real football. On avg a QB in the NFL has about 3 to 4 seconds before the dline gets in his face. But like you said. You and your team is making a adjustments so thats good to hear. I am look forward to the game.

In the Pro Tak thread you see Steven Jackson do a Improved Juke that looks alot beter than the old one.

Not if the economy is still in the gutter. I've been concerned about this for a while now. What if Madden dips in sales this year because of the current state of the economy and EA Management uses that as a reason to go back to the Madden Nation crowd?

Pocket could easily be changed by DL vs OL sliders.
