Gameplay still equals 80% of the game, if it sucks on the field again, nothing else matters.
QFT. Blocking from the flexbone video looked atrocious. Still no real time physics. Blocking, tackling will still be "suction" based and players can still turn on a dime w/o slowing down.

Fix the gameplay then add SS.
    EA: Please add in-game saves.

in order to participate you have to go to the season showdown menu and select a team. If you don't select a team you don't participate so there's no need to turn anything off or on.

2)These website reviewers most likely don't notice the subtle changes and tweaks because they most likely played 09 for a week or 2 for some review assignment and never touched it again. I'm sure if you asked these guys what the biggest issues were in 09 (pass rush, robo-qb, etc.) they wouldn't even know.

3)IMO, when they say it feels the same, I expect that they are talking about the general feel of the controls and players. It has nothing to with OL/DL interaction, robo-qb, lack of pass rush, etc.

Of course the game could still turn out bad but I don't think paying too much attention to these big websites is likely to give us any kind of a real good idea of how the game plays.
Excellent points. But I am worried that the feel of the players (point 3) will be the same. After going back and playing NCAA 09, I really disliked how the players felt. They need more weight. The Madden team has finetuned this area but NCAA went in a different direction. I'd love to hear something about the players not being so twitchy anymore.

although, I believe you can avoid Season showdown from starting to do that, if you never visit the Season Showdown section and select your team.
I wasn't clear. I didn't mean it was a waste of my time. I understand it really doesn't take any additional time on my part. I meant that I think it was a waste of programming time.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)

I dont care about SS. I will setup my team because i play alot in online dynasties. i prolly wont track it much.

What's killing me is that ppl are saying that 09 is broken;we know that. the engine is nice but some aspects needed work. spd adjustments, money plays, pursit angles, camera angles, roll out qbs, staduim upgrades, end zone art in bowl games, power back being power backs. dl pash rush, blitz working again

there have been several blogs detailing what the dev has added to this game from a gameplay perspective but it has been ignored.

OL vs DL has been improved same system madden has(should create lanes for blitz)
              Pur. angles
              camera angles
fading icons on wr for qb that drop back 15 yards
              endzone art for bowl games
              break out of tackles
              two-man tackles
              player-lock.
99 spd not that much faster tha 93 like the days of old.
pre-snap def. play guess and player shadow.
              game planning between plays.
adaptive a.i. no more option everytime or comeback routes for days
              new animations
              weather effects game play
              wr/cb interaction
              ______________________
That's a lot of updates. If you think that alone wont change this game drastically your nutts. I wish everyone complaining would be more specific what else do they need to "fix" in this cycle. i'm not saying it all will work perfect because with time gamers like criminals will always find a way to beat the systems. But they have made substancial changes.

i for one am pumped up for player lock. I cant wait to play as a WR on big 3rd down plays. lock on the MLB and stuff runs. shut down ppl from the cornerback position. I was playing a kid who was killing me with J.Jones and i had to play corner for most of the 2nd half and it was fun. it would have been 10 times more fun had i had player lock and the camera over my should 3rd person style.

You do realize that there are players in real life who can stop and turn on a dime without losing a ton of speed. The only players i noticed with this type of ability all had 95 agility or higher.

I agree with alot of the stuff on this thread and do agree that gameplay issues broken in 09 needs to be fixed and that is the priority - however - from just a pure business standpoint - emphasizing that they fixed the gameplay from last year admits that they released a broken product - that'll be a great 'tagline' on the back cover:

                  - NEW FEATURE - fixed broke s**t from last year.

I wouldn't expect them to publically admit this except in forums/hardcore community etc.

From EAs standpoint - every year they need something 'new and shiny' to move units, - from the gamers standpoint - they just need to 'fix this s**t. Just fix it.'

Have you ever seen a d-lineman pirouette on one foot to make a 90 degree turn without slowing down at all in NCAA?

I have seen it thousands of times. They literally do not slow down at all. This is very common on play fakes where the d-lineman sprints after the RB than turns on one foot toward the QB w/o any loss of speed.

Have you ever seen a 260 lb. + person (let alone Barry Sanders) do that in real life? No, because it's impossible in a world governed by the laws of physics.

                        QFT.

                        Running back goes through hole
DE moves towards QB, stops, turns arounds, sprints in other direction and stops RB for 1 yard gain.
IRL that never happens. In the game it's common.

Here's what I don't understand. Why have someone do an article on the game who doesn't seem to know what he's talkking about. He spent a chunk mentioning that in NCAA 10 he could now seem to win a game in different ways, while in 09 you were stuck to a certain strategy.

The issue was, in fact, the reverse. There was NO strategy. You could run the option with anyone, go full out air-attack, etc with zero personnel consideration. Oh well...just getting tired of seeing the same generic gloss-over type previews of these games. I know he mentioned a strategy element being in place this year...but that came after he said the game played roughly the same...lol.

That's the one theme I'm noticing (as other's have mentioned)...a lot of people keep saying the game plays pretty much like 09. Am I mistaken, or didn't they share some of the new tech Madden will be using for 10? I ask because unless you LOVE college football to no end, it would seem hard to move back to the NCAA game if you got a taste of the new gameplay in Madden (assuming everything works somewhat close to as advertised...lol). Hopefully some of what was shared, makes the game a more immersive experience. I am excited to try out the team builder, so it would be nice if the team I built could be put into a great game.

Not really griping here...just not finding much useful or encouraging info from these little previews is all.
