NO glitch.
There are a few players that do only have two pitches. Usually closers or short relief men. -

I believe Brad Lidge only has a fastball and slider.Comment

Re: Anybody ever see a pitcher with only two pitches??
Bob Brenly always refers to Rich Harden as a two-pitch guy, fastball and change-up. He keeps saying that his change-up has such wicked movement that players just key on the fastball, like his change is unhitable. That's why he K's so many on that nasty change. However, in the game he has the 4 seam, 2 seam, and splitter, along with his change?
Game and reality differs greatly. Last game I watched said K-Rod had only two pitches, but the game has him at like 5.
Really makes reality and the game drastically different. Another example, I can ROCK Johan Santana because he only has 3 pitches, but such is not the case in reality.
In the game, I've seen some poor quality middle-relief guys with only two options, but I don't remember their names. A lot of guys have the 2-seam, 4-seam, and a 3rd pitch, which is like the same as two pitches.Comment

Yes...SCEA can obviously do that.
When you go to edit him....there are even attributes for slot number three...but no pitch. Once you edit it...you can't get it back to two.

Re: Anybody ever see a pitcher with only two pitches??
A lot of the reason guys are slotted into bullpen duty is because they lack a quality third pitch. So even when they have a third, they don't use it.
To expand on that-- pitchers can throw as many pitches as they want, what determines how many pitches "they have" is how good they throw them. When you draft a guy with 4 pitches and it turns out batters kill two of the four, the two are usually revamped, replaced or the pitcher is moved to the bullpen where two pitches is perfectly fine.
Lidge actually does have three pitches, but he has stopped throwing his "get-me-over" breaking ball to noticeable results.Last edited by livnlegn; 05-16-2009, 12:43 PM.Comment

Lidge has two pitches BUT he has a few variations of the slider, so you could say he has three-four pitches.A lot of the reason guys are slotted into bullpen duty is because they lack a quality third pitch. So even when they have a third, they don't use it.

Yeah, and he needs to start throwing that junky first-pitch slurve again or we might see Houston part two here.Comment
