Intro:
After I got my hands on the Fight Night 4 Demo I was amazed. The game is incredible in every way Graphics, Sound, Fun Factor, and Gameplay but, there is a major negative to the gameplay situation. Similar to Factor 5’s game LAIR that debuted on the Playstation 3 it was released only using motion controls which put a major damper on the success of the game and sadly EA Sports Fight Night 4 according to the demo was about to share that same fate until.
Point #1
I did some research on the fans of this game and the majority ruled in favor of having the option to use Face Buttons just like in Fight Night Round 3 for your punches instead of being limited to the Total Control Analog Punch gameplay style. Well I’ve contacted EA regarding this matter and it was remarkable how they responded. Here’s a quote from one of the employees that’s behind the production of this game.
“Thanks for this, man. Appreciate honest feedback.
The team is aware of the concerns, and though we can’t make any
official comment on the button issue, rest assured it is being
addressed.
The good thing about our current gaming landscape is the ability to
patch a game on day one.
I will keep you posted. Thanks again for reaching out.”


That right there sealed the deal and also shows how powerful us gamers are in this industry and how dedicated EA is as a company for there fan base to remain happy.

I hope that's true. I would add that seems to be the positive attitude we've seen out of EA Sports lately. While I like TPC, so many people want the buttons that for the success of the game I hope they do add it. This way people won't reject the game for lack of button control and hopefully they'll at least try TPC long enough to make a fair judgement.

the stick is not practical b/c it just makes doing the 3 to 12 motion = to pressing b . It's not like you are actually controlling the guys hands. I could see if it was that you threw the punch as fast or as slow as you did the 3/9 to 12 motion but that's not the case. That's why I call it a gimmick.

I'm not feeling the TPC but I'm going to give it a shot. TPC is a potential game killer for me though. The only reason I need the buttons is for throwing crosses and jabs. Its dumb, to me, to have to use the stick for jabs and crosses.

I hate using analog for boxing. I think its too much to think about in the heat of battle.

But the game looks real good and I'm getting it anyway.

I read the same article over at another site and I find it quite predictable. I don't understand why EA ever thought this would work. I will warn to those that scream that EA and even 2K are getting to the point where they just put the same game out with updated rosters every year. Gamers that reject change should not whine so much when they give you the same game over and over again. 2K tried to stand up and remove the cheesy 2KCam in online mode only, and people biatched and moaned until they brought it back, now the TPC. I prefer buttons but I understand what EA was probably trying to accomplish here. Conclusion: If you don't start something you want have to worry about trying to finish it. My dad taught me that a long time ago. EA and 2K have always included methods and modes of cheese in there games. Now it's gonna be difficult to just do away with them in a blink of an eye.

we have power over the companies because one thing any little thing we dislike is enough for us to not purchase the game, there is always complaining in every game forum for every single game, no game will be perfect, when it does, it wont even be a game, more of a simulation in the far future.

I dont see why people love the buttons. its old school, and thats it, you can break your controller more.

HOW IN THE HELL IS TPC TO MUCH TO THINK....you people are either four years old, or your to OLD to understand the new ways of playing....THEY MADE ONE TYPE OF CONTROL this year so people can avoid exploits/cheese. Hell, this has never been done before in a sports game........let's see how this plays out for online fighting. Hell, this might just be a break threw for ALL games just to make one type of control....it's like riding a fu%king bike. SUre many of you need training wheels, but youll learn sooner or later.....

i love boxing..im not some typical casual gamer. Throwing with the stick makes you feel like your throwing a punch. Sticks keep the punch count at a even level because YOU HAVE TO THINK when throwing a punch....you people are button arcade mashers, go back to punch out

Answer me this Shadio............Who the heck is it hurting to have buttons for Offline Legacy People??? Is it going to keep you up at night knowing that people are having fun playing with buttons offline???

Taking it out of online would have been "sticking it" to button users enough. There was no ffing NEED to go further for that extra "F You" to the button crowd. What EA did was excessive period.

Fight night will live on because it's the only BOXING GAME IN THE WORLD. LEARN the controls and stop having a tit attack. well..if buttons are really important to the people whether its the few people on the forums, or majority of the people who play the game, I'd say if they were to have the button, its only for you personal use and offline. As people say that its a possability to cheese in the game with button mashing. But inorder to play online you would have to take time to learn the stick fighitng

my main beef here is that i just want to see how this ONE CONTROL thing works out. I want to see if somehow this could be a answer to elimination of EXPLOITS/CHEESE gimmicks....ive never seen this done before in a frachise game. If this works then maby ALL games can be like this (ONE CONTROL). Hell, nba 2k, madden, all of these game need a awswer to exploits. EXPLOITS hell been a complete CANCER to us gamers for many years now.......

I have ceberal palsy(minor case), and I am not lying. But it effects my muscles in my right hand majorly. Therefore I CANNOT use TPC efficiently. If they don't have the option to use buttons, the game is useless for me to play. I may be a 1 in a million expection, but I just can't do it. Event on UFC 2009, I use my left hand when controlling the right analog to transition on the ground etc...


PLEASE just add the option EA for this 1 person! I agree with the person that said its not like TPC is allowing u full cotrol of the hands, the hand speed is the same regardless of buttons or TPC, so how could buttons possibly be cheesing???

If it is not added in, it is a game killer for me, and I'm sure many many others. And there's no way I'll be able to buy the game, which will be very dissapointing as I've been looking forward to it for over a year now. Just put it in the game as an option! If anything, for those that wine... don't allow it to be used online, or put it as an option to be turned on or off for online play. But then again, if it's like that, then I prolly won't play online.
