    Generics... they're all the same

There's a phenomenon on amongst APF loyalists that I really just don't understand.

I have seen at least three different threads about who the best generics are in the game. And what I will never understand is why people think they are different.

To start, there's really no proof that one Pocket Passer QB is different from another. Or that one Possession WR is different from another.

IMO, the player's skill set makes them all the same. All Coverage CB's play the same. It's logical that 2k would do this, so that things would be even across the board and the Legends are what change the game.

I think that it's just a fun little thing for each of us to have our own favorite generics at each spot, but to say that one is better than the other makes zero sense to me.

Hate to break it to you skids but all generics were not created equal. I'm gonna try and drum up the thread from 2kstrategy but it was confirmed by someone on the development team that certain generics are better then others.

I found the thread. A while back 2kstrategy was supposed to get an interview with developers through a contact Valdarez had already been talking too.

        I actually asked the question
Do some of the generics really play better then others?
Valdarez only answered a short, yes, in the thread but I recall him telling during a game we played that he asked that question in one of the initial talks he had with his contact. He also had asked him about the CAP randomizer and if CAPs and legends had "hidden" abilities which was also answered with a yes.

Hopefully Val can come on here and confirm this.

I have to agree with Dtrain here. I follow season stats closely and that Mark Fields DT does really well. Also, I've made so many CAPs and some just play far different than others with the same abilities. I've made James Harrison like 10 times.... 1 season he has 19 sacks, in another he struggles to get 5. I don't think my playcalling changes that much.

I will give you a perfect example that can be tested in practice mode.

Take a team without a legend HB into practice mode.
            Make the backs balanced.
Make sure Leeroy Green is one of the backs.
Now run ten plays with the back not named Leeroy Green
            Next run ten with.

Tell me if you can tell a difference...

Re: Generics... they're all the same

Generics are definitely not the same. The numbering system that used to represent players in 2K5 and past games is still alive and well, albeit it hidden now, for all players whether they be generic or legend.

If you want to see the difference between generics, the easiest to see the differences on is with the halfbacks. Play with several of the HBs and you'll quickly see a speed disparity between them or a move/cut disparity.

After playing long enough, you'll soon be able to recognize the better players. Ortiz as a Strong Safety (good hands for INTs), or, #71, #72, #73, and #74 on the OLine (great pass blockers). Leroy Green is definitely the fastest HB (strangely, he's under 'Balanced HBs' too).

I'm sure people have their favorites, but odds are they are their favorite for a pretty good reason.

That's right, sorry, typo on my part. I always have Lott as a Gold FS subbed as SS.

I hardly ever go without legend corners. Supernaw is a decent nickle back, so is Goodwin. Both are under balanced.

Yea my classic hawkeyes team doesn't have any legend CBs

I really think this board could use a thread dedicated to which generics people have the best luck with in any position. Or we could just keep it all going on this since it's already popular.

                            D line?

Terry Supernaw? Because he comes behind two other corners in one i just did... Amon Lukins and Jeff Howard.
