I never expected M10 to feel like a hole new game. I'm fine as long as they fix the problems.

The reviewer talks about a single madden moment drive and how he failed. Doesn't describe playing a single down of defense. How accurate can this review be? Most people were raving about 09 for the first couple weeks. Bottom line, I gotta play it myself, period.

These generic websites dont always give the best insight on certain games. Usually what I do is take my core opinions from sites like OS and IGN, where they give detailed analysis on the game.Othersites like 1up and such i read just to see if there were any small details they noticed that maybe the OS guys or IGN guys didnt mention. Welcould probably give a better preview of the game then these guys and we havent even played it becuase weare so locked in on a daily basis. what i wouldnt mind seeing is some of the CD guys there there full impressions on the game that they played. Now iknow there maybe some things they cant touch on just wait. However once E3 comes around and most the info is released i would like to see what the CDs think.

the results of these plays in Madden NFL 10, however, are often different than in its predecessor
Madden NFL 10’s new Pro-Tak system forces users to know the player (and that player’s role) much more intimately than in games prior; no more physics-defying 160 pounders taking on an entire front three or four.
            Reading is key.

Sure you press the same buttons to throw the ball but the results are what we care about.

It means that how you call a play is the same as last year, controls wise. That's fine with me.

It's a fair expectation but do you expect it at this point from what I gather based on one of those reviews is a very limited demo?

Whats a whole new game mean to you?

Is it a new tackling system, line play, wr/db interactions, game play enhancements etc.

                or

Is it new modes, new controls and a new engine.

To me most reviews aren't going to say much about #1 above because they are looking for #2. Would they even notice #1 without extended play? Would they notice it if the build they have is 3 madden moments with short play time.

Look I am not sticking up for the game, it could suck, I doubt it but it could. But most of these reviews read exactly the same and I don't think there is enough play time to offer a valid opinion that it plays exactly the same.

As always this is just my thought process, I could be completely wrong.

I hope E3 can clear up these issue for us.

In terms of executing a play, Madden NFL 10 feels similar to last year’s game. Those who have played the last few Madden games will have no troubles jumping in and running an offense or defense.
Am I the only one to interpret that as "executing plays are the same"? You still pick the plays in the same manner and tap a (or x) to start them.

Like when you just take that statement out of context, yeah it sounds like he's saying the game overall is exactly the same, but when reading it, all he's saying is that it's easy to get into if you played previous maddens which is something that Ian wanted.

So yeah... I don't see why people are getting worried over that statement. I guess it's just people misinterpreting it...

Very good! Another person that can read!

I understand why people take it the wrong way. But the author of this review was talking about controls. A lot of sports games are switching from buttons to analog controls (NHL and Fight Night, MLB 2k9, etc) so he obviously had that on his mind and wanted to explain that the game hasn't changed its control scheme.

I'm just happy to hear that seemingly, size and ratings matter in Madden '10'. To me...thats huge.

My confidants level in M10 remains pretty high.

If you're going to include that sentence, then you should include the part afterwards where the writer says "the results are much different". He points out the upgrades in tackling and the more realistic results of the plays. Does it feel similar to last year's game? Yes. But does it play out the same? No.

Exactly. Unfortunately there are certain people on this board that look to purposely take things out of context to get the intended result they desire.

It's along the same lines of "selective hearing".

Let's force everyone to read on:

Those who have played the last few Madden games will have no troubles jumping in and running an offense or defense. The results of these plays in Madden NFL 10, however, are often different than in its predecessor.

THAT is the important part about that quote. People need to stop ignoring things on purpose.

The old "jam the stick down and run around at the snap" technique doesn't put you in the best position anymore. More than once, I instinctively took off running, only to be greeted by a sack at the hands of an end or linebacker. But when I broke that habit, I found I could slip around, even step up, and buy the time to make a play.
