Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
Thank you. These anti EA crusaders are starting to aggravate the hell out me, lol. Totally ingnored the rest of the paragraph, lol. Dudes are funny manLet's force everyone to read on:
Those who have played the last few Madden games will have no troubles jumping in and running an offense or defense. The results of these plays in Madden NFL 10, however, are often different than in its predecessor.
THAT is the important part about that quote. People need to stop ignoring things on purpose.
. Now let me break it down barney style. Its Madden, so you'll be able to jump right in and play, no worries, just like you could with every Madden that has ever been released.
However, the outcome will be different because of ratings having the proper effect, pro tak, and whatever else they've thrown in there for good measure.
I dont understand the crusaders trying to find something wrong. If you dont like Madden, I dont get why you are in a Madden forum pretending that you want to like it, then as soon as you percieve something amiss, you commence to doing what you're actual intentions were from the start.
I'm not trying to be crass or rude honestly, but....why are you here? Madden could be the best thing since sliced bread and there are folks who still would hate on it. Why not just leave?Last edited by TheCreep; 05-18-2009, 10:17 PM.Comment

I wonder what Ian has to say about all these impressions. He's looking at this thread right now...Comment

Re: Teamxbox madden 10 hands on
exactly. I dont understand what all the commotion isVery good! Another person that can read!
I understand why people take it the wrong way. But the author of this review was talking about controls. A lot of sports games are switching from buttons to analog controls (NHL and Fight Night, MLB 2k9, etc) so he obviously had that on his mind and wanted to explain that the game hasn't changed its control scheme.Comment

This is also how I read it... Simply speaking about comfort.. The ability to settle right in and play.. Nowhere did I take this to read that the game was lousy like '09..
As long as Ortiz doesn't have his hands in this and Ian does I am pretty confident this will be the best Madden by a large margin since the next gen started..Comment

Re: Teamxbox madden 10 hands on
What do you think they'll say?
They'll just disagree and say it's brand-spanking new and never-seen-before... yadda yadda yadda
It's good to get outside opinions - not just the company line.Comment

Re: Teamxbox madden 10 hands on
It always confuses me when folks post that it is the same as last year, especially when regarding something like controls or playcalling...of course it will be similar to last year...they didn't overhaul the play call...they changed the play calling screen, sure...but you still choose plays in the same way...its not like they implemented a playcall system using the sixaxis controller...you don't have to waggle the controller a certain way to call a PA Flat and spin it in circles to call a HB stretch...you push X or A or...you get the drift. It's the same engine...therefore some things will feel the same...it does not mean that it will play the same...

Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
I fully agree with you and in my opinion the game didn't need a huge overhaul because alot of times that cause MORE UNWANTED PROBLEMS. Im glad to hear that its the same as last year despite the pro tak adjustments and speed adjustments both with player speed and ball speed."Madden NFL 10 feels similar to last year’s game."
Take this one line however you want it, to me it's nothing more then a crutch for reviewers. Most of these reviews then go on to talk about the difference tackling, the pocket or injury system make. Also i gather that these people got a very limited demo build of only Madden moments at this point and probably haven't spent enough time to form a valid opinion on game play.
To me it seems like "hey we played the demo for 30-45 minutes, lets spit out some marketing jargon that has been written down for us"
It's a little too early to say the game is or isn't improved. I'll reserve that judgment to I start seeing long game play clips and actually trying the game.
I might ask what people were expecting, something along the liens of "madden plays like a whole new game" and if that is your expectation you're not going to get it from a review off of these sites or maybe at all, because it probably is very similar to every other madden. The things that I would expect to notice aren't going to be found in a limited demo build at this point in my opinion you have to read the specifics and not the generalities. But that's just me.
Any other adjustments in my opinion could greatly compromise the realism of the game. Football is a very basic sport so if you have a decent foundation there is no need to start screwing with things just to be able to market a new addition to the game. Personally this is a plus for me!!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
The fact that gamers demand such a drastic change from year to year is a huge part of the problem with these games now.....This falls directly into the hands of these companies as they can change things that dont need to be changed, and not change things that need to be changed. Then they fix it the next year and mess it up the year after that at the consumers request!!!!!!! When you have a good basic system, especially in a sports game, there really shouldn't be too much of a change in the game from year to year besides roster updates and continually sharpening certain little details about the game. And if consumers have a problem with that then they need to be playin NFL blitz or something that can constantly make drastic changes because its fictionally based.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
I mean think about how often the nfl game changes from year to year.....NOT MUCH.
This isnt grand theft auto where you have to come up with different storylines every year. The goal here is to produce as realistic of a product as possible and I really, really, really applaude Ian because this pro-tak thing is the single biggest idea in any sports game to date and it will make madden rival with MLB 09 the show especially if they can implement the depth of field and player lighting the way MLB 09 improved upon 08 in that regard.
The pro tak feature can be expanded upon every year and i personally dont care if it isnt perfect in year one nor do i expect it to be. But it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for a football game.Comment

Re: Teamxbox madden 10 hands on
This is starting to get reee-damn-diculous already. It's like some people are not even reading what A. Ian said about the interface of the game, or B. The people HERE that have played the game. As soon as somebody says something that people constrict as being negative, all hell breaks loose. And quite honestly, when it comes to sports games, why in the hell are you listening to those sites anyway!?!? Most of those sites don't know a good SPORTS game from a hole in the wall. I can't tell you guys what to think, but I do know this, I would/will continue to listen to Ian and the guys here that have played over those other sites. That's just me though.Am I the only one to interpret that as "executing plays are the same"? You still pick the plays in the same manner and tap a (or x) to start them.
Like when you just take that statement out of context, yeah it sounds like he's saying the game overall is exactly the same, but when reading it, all he's saying is that it's easy to get into if you played previous maddens which is something that Ian wanted.
So yeah... I don't see why people are getting worried over that statement. I guess it's just people misinterpreting it...Watch ya self! Here come the Hawks, the Mighty Blackhawks!! Gamertag: andrae86.Comment

Look forward to seeing more in-game footage for mysel but I have to admit I was expecting more dazzle out of these early hands on reviews...Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
Exactly. I wont even bother reading this after reading all these responses. I'm gonna do my best to avoid any kind of previews for Madden and NCAA this year."Madden NFL 10 feels similar to last year’s game."

Re: Madden NFL 10 Hands-On Preview (Teamxbox)
Wow, This is JUST LIKE what was happening after the AP2K8 Trailer dropped 2 years ago. All the back and forth speculation, the up and down game site reviews. The forum debates and speculation.
If it all holds to form like it did for AP2K8 and we dont have a Star Trek time travel scenerio happen, Madden 2010 is gonna be THE BEST football game of all Time.
With that said....I dont think we are really gonna know if this game is gonna be bust or boom till we see some finished product gameplay footage. Which we probably wont see until the middle of July.Comment
