    Franchise ideas

-Players retiring and coming back as coaches.

-Being able ot select a team captain (would affect team chemistry)

-Player/coach personalities (would affect team chemistry and how likely player was to argue calls/charge mound)

-Being able to create a new stadium for your franchise/change team name and/or uniforms

-Being able to fire your coaches during the season

-having the ability to sign another teams batting/hitting/base coaches as your head coach at any time without them having to be fired by their current team or having their contract expire.

-being able to have a player-coach. It does happen in baseball once in a while. (last one was pete rose)

-being able to call up a rookie right after the draft if you want.

-international players should be able to be signed at any time not during the draft/ that's not realistic. You should be able to sign them as young as 16 years old.

-Game should say all coaches names. I hired Don Mattingly as my coach for the yankees and every time he goes out to pull a pitcher it says "the yankees manager" instead of his name.

-being able to create a coach (manager, batting, pitching or base)just in case the game leaves a couple out like it did this year. (name database would apply just like when creating a player)

******Also, I think it would be pretty cool if we had the option to download pictures to our game systems to replace the player photos that are in the game. For example, if you trade for a player from another team, that player shows up on your team wearing his old teams uniform in his photo.

This option would allow you to download a picture of that player online (maybe from the teams official site, ESPN or MLB.com) in his new teams uniform, or you could photoshop a picture and then load it to the game. You should aslo be able to do this for any created players and coaches. I think this would be pretty awesome. I'm tired of the cartoon face pictures and having players on my roster wearing the wrong uniforms in their pictures.

I think some sort of team chemistry would be cool. Could affect which free agents to sign or could affect your team if you trade certain guys away.

Yeah, i like your idea. Might think twice about trading some people. This is a good one.

I don't. How come you bring it up? Which features that I mentioned are in there?

All of them except changing team names/jerseys in game (you can edit them behind the scenes). And the team captain selection and player morale system where pretty much anything that happens affects team and individual morale are very important parts of the game.

International players can only be signed after July 2 in real life. I think the international signings should be done in July or August. The game does allow you to scout International players for the Amateur draft, but in the future it should list their country of origin.

I agree. I think the game should be as real to life as possible, so if in real life you can only sign international players after july 2, that's how it should be in the game. I also agree with listing their county of orign and I think that most foreign players should come from latin America since that's where the majority of them get signed from in real life.

Nice, sounds like a good game. I think this type of thing has been done in other sports games also. For example, the first idea I posted about players retiring and coming back as coaches I got from playing franchise in madden.

When you say Latin America, you mean Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico right? How would that work? I mean you have the draft, but then you get to sign the foreign players a month later based on how much you offer them rather than a draft? I think they do it this way to keep it fair so that teams like Boston don't fork out millions for exclusive negotiating rights. Or perhaps they are just being lazy. I don't know.

Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela I think are the big three. And in real life teams like the yankees who have alot of money and are willing to spend it on international scouting are the teams that end up with these players. A good example of this would be catcher Jesus Montero who they signed out of Venezuela as a 16 year old. I think international players signing based on how much a team is willing to offer them would be realistic. It could work alot like free agency in the game now where teams bid on the player and the player chooses a team based on their offer/their record/team history/location,etc.. Of course teams that hire better scouts are more likely to find the talented young international player that other teams might not know about ....so hiring the right scout would play a big part in this also.

                        Re: Franchise ideas

That's not bad. Even small market teams, like the A's did with Ynoa, would be able to sign 16 year old players but they wouldn't be available for 2 years. They may or may not pan out, and if they do, there is a chance that the player ends up being 3 years older than you thought he was. And then you could get into a bidding war with the Yankees and Sox over Japanese pitchers that would not really be prospects but rather full blown studs.

All solid ideas. Team chemistry really, really, really should be in the game.

Is it not in the game already? I'll take a look after I finish my game, but one of my franchise goals was about team chemistry.. maybe it was just player morale. I'll post back after my game.

I like the idea of having certain personality types. Angry guys argue and get thrown out more (rather than doing it randomly). Certain pitchers might lose their cool and be more likely to hit a batter (though you can do this yourself as well). Certain personality types might not play for certain teams or with certain players. This would make free agency signings more interesting. May be a bit of a stretch though.
