I started a Wild dynasty, and it seems like EVERY single time I score a goal or two in the mid to late game the opposing team gets the puck off the faceoff and comes right down and scores. Is there any way to resolve this?

Comeback AI
I think there have been discussions about this before, but now I'm convinced.

Re: Comeback AI
There needs to be a slider for "CPU Cheating".
I am convinced that this is in EVERY EASports title.
NHL / FIFA / NCAAFootball / Madden / etc ...New to FIFA23 ... did not care for FIFA22 ... after having played FIFA19 for the previous three years!
XBox S / Full-Manual / Slow(Normal?) Speed / 10 Minutes per Half / Professional (home) / World Class (away)

Re: Comeback AI
Do you guys think this is in all difficulty levels? I can't seem to keep a clean sheet on all star, ever. Whenever I get a lead there always seems to be an AI goal or two soon after and it always feels like I couldn't stop it, no matter what. FIFA had this kind of thing in 08 and 07 where AI players couldn't be tackled no matter what. Frustrating and breaks the illusion.Comment

Re: Comeback AI
A lot of it is illusion. I mean do teams "press" in those situations? Sure. That doesn't mean there is a coded game play resulting in that happening other than just a change in strategies.
I know what you are saying where it seems like it is "goal time" and come hell or high water the cpu is going to score, but trust me as I have been around these games enough over the years, alot of it is in our heads. Perhaps not all, but still.Comment

Re: Comeback AI
I used to feel that way, but if you maintain composure and change strategies you can defend against this. I don't believe in comeback a.i. in this game because I come back more than the CPU does. There are issues, but nothing that getting better at your own game can't solve. People who disagree (used to be me) are probably set in their ways and won't switch up their game style, and then they argue that it's the cpu's fault. These same people were the ones arguing that games were too easy before and had terrible a.i. While there probably could be a balance, I'd rather have a challenging game and get better than a walk through. Just my opinion though.I think there have been discussions about this before, but now I'm convinced.

Re: Comeback AI
yup. the cpu will step up their game at certain points during a game and some games will be harder than others. some people accept the challenge and see it as sort of realistic and fun and other just want to complain about it because they want to play the same exact game over and over again.Comment

Yeah, play better on defense.I think there have been discussions about this before, but now I'm convinced.

Re: Comeback AI
The only "comeback logic" the CPU has is changing the same strategy settings that the human player has.Comment

Re: Comeback AI
That's really cool to know, you'll have to forgive some people their suspicions because if they are like me then they have been playing games like Pro Evolution Soccer for years, amongst others. I swear at one point I thought that Pro Evo's entire AI was built around CPU cheats.
Now I'll go back to NHL 09 and try to get better at adjusting my strategies to counter the CPU.
Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Comeback AI
Well i seem to have fixed the problem by shoring up the holes in my defense...now I'm on a 9 game winning streak with a minimum of 4 goals in each game, and Mikko Koivu, despite having played less games than the other league leaders, is leading the league in points with about 25 points in 15 games. Most of the defensive success is due, however, to Backstrom's insane goaltending.
Thanks for the clarification guys.Comment

Re: Comeback AI
What you fail to mention is the CPU gets speed, agility and shot accuracy boosts when it changes to a pressure strategy. Which then makes it almost impossible to get the puck away from the CPU, and which in turn results in more shots and goals by the CPU in those situations. As I've said before, it's not comeback code ala other video games. It's player ratings cheat/boost programming, which is why the OP and others who have complained about this -- myself inciuded -- get frustrated with the CPU "comeback" goals.Comment

Re: Comeback AI
It's in FIFA 09, but not to the same degree. FIFA 08 was horrible for this same CPU ratings boost stuff, but they seemed to have toned it down in 09. Hopefully with NHL 2010, the developers will tone it down as well. I'd prefer to see the sort of intelligent programming where the CPU to plays smarter, tighter defense and what have you, instead of simply making CPU players so fast and agile that it's impossble to strip the puck from them.Comment
