Do you want the ability to edit player attributes in the middle of your Franchise?

In another thread, Ian mentioned we could edit everything about a player, while in the middle of our franchise, EXCEPT FOR attributes and contracts.

Would you want the ability to edit attributes while in mid franchise? This could either to make up for progression you think should have happened, or to coincide with roster updates if a player in your franchise does extremely well in real life but was rated low because they are a backup or rookie (like Matt Cassel or Steve Slaton).

Ian said its our game and we should be able to do whatever the hell we want, so I think editing attributes is art of that. If people want to cheat or take advantage of the CPU, thats their prerogative- its only hurting the realism of their own game.
So, what is everyone else's opinions?

No. Progression should be sufficient to handle player improvements

    Madden 11' Franchise should be

Madden '10 "foundation" + depth of Head Coach 09 = my dream franchise mode.

I wouldn't use it unless progression was broken, but I know it's not this year, so I'm not concerned myself.

I personally see a Madden franchise as an 'alternate universe' franchise so whatever happens in M10's franchise stays in M10's franchise and what happens in real life, happens in real life. If your player is having a sucky year and that same player in real life is having an amazing year, it shouldn't affect your M10 player at all.

No not really. I think the system we got now is fine.

That should sum up this thread right there.

Its our franchise, we should be able to do what we want with it. If i want to make Tom Brady into the best WR in my franchise, i should be able to.

Altho i will say that, i think the ability to edit players equipment and the like is needed over the ability to edit ratings. We should have both tho, like NBA 2K9.

Just make Tom Brady a 99 WR before you start your franchise in your roster file.

haha, yea i know that, but what if i felt Brady got bored mid season, and wanted to become a great WR, i wouldnt be able to do that.

Just a quick note. I try to keep my franchise as accurate as possible to the real NFL, so i dont really have a need for crazy adjustments, but i still feel they need to be there for a few tweaks and what not.

Re: Do you want the ability to edit player attributes in the middle of your Franchise

I voted for the middle one. I do think that the progression should be sufficient, but I would like to have some say in the direction in which my players are developing. The last few maddens' camp have been awful and I hate that you can only increase the level of a players' weapon...... power (i guess?) Really what I would like is for me to have a philosophy or plan for each player and have the player progression be based on how well they fit into that scheme I have for them. So for instance lets say I wanted Rivers to become more of scrambling QB, any progression that he gains from the season will be directed towards his scrambling ability a lot more than his other attributes. If he still has an outstanding season passing, I would like those attributes to go up a little as well. But If he does really well in general esp when passing on the run, or getting out of the pocket and running, I want those stats to go up a higher/quicker rate.... if that makes sense.

I picked yes because I don't see why we shouldn't be able to? I'd say it would help the people who don't like the progression which would fix a lot of the worries about progression. They just leave in this feature just in case.

One day with the game and you're absolutely certain progression ISN'T broken? I'll wait for a final build before making such declarations.

Answering the topic: Yes, I would like the ability to edit everything. Sometimes a surprise player breaks through and I'd like the ability to boost his ratings ... or vice-versa if someone suddenly becomes a bum.

Re: Do you want the ability to edit player attributes in the middle of your Franchise

I will probably have two different franchises running simultaneously. One with the NCAA imported draft classes and one with the Madden generated drafts.

Every year in the past there has always been serious flaws with both the imported and the generated classes. Editing attributes inside of the franchise would allow the user to fix these mistakes. So that the franchise doesn't basically become unbalanced after the first year.

Now if the development teams can guarantee that both drafts methods will be on point, then I don't really have a problem, but since there is no way that they can make that guarantee, then they should allow us to modify the incoming players to keep the proper balance in the league.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Where's the "I only want to edit incoming rookies" option? Editing the attributes of existing players inside of franchise mode sort of defeats the purpose of the player progression system, and ergo the entire mode, IMO.
