Ummmmm you guys who are getting excited about the coin toss and the QB talkin on the phone do realize that all of that was in NFL 2k5 right? Madden's presentation is so far behind that it really makes me wonder how much farther along the 2k series would be if it never had to stop production...Oh well, I can only wonder. EA really hasn't pushed the envelope at all. Shoot, what makes it all the more farcical is that visual concepts found a way to put these things on their game on the XBOX. They haven't even had the oppurtunity to make NFL football games on this generation of videogame consoles! Step it up EA

The gameplay also LOOKED like the same old Madden with Pro-Tak slapped on ..

My sentiments exactly...I think someone said it earlier...The Madden engine is far outdated, broken and just not conducive to building a game with REAL next gen physics, animations and overall gameplay...

I just don't think its possible to use the current engine and take this game where it needs to go...I swear I saw GLIMPSES of Madden ps2 in that video...I'm not impressed at all with the media...The sad part is when we get new media its supposed to be wowing us...The last time Madden wowed me was when I saw the next gen graphics in 2005...Since then nothing this game has done has wowed me...

In fact...they went so far backwards that reinstituting the old features is about the closest they've come to a wow factor...I take that back...When I was finally able to play online w/o ridiculous lag was a next gen wow moment...Everything else has been underwhelming.

I too respect Ian and really believe the team is doing the best they can with what they got but its not really all their fault..Its this damn engine...Its gotta go

Yeah, I had someone message me directly about that. I went back and checked the footage and the refs pointing the right way. Where are they getting this?

Its because things like this have happened before i.e a coach being upset at a penalty thats in his teams favor and other stuff. I think once we get some in game video from E3 we will really be able to see all the elements come together

Am I the only one that doesn't notice much difference from last year graphically or presentation-wise other than the fumb-o-meter?

Not to say they are not trying but it still looks like OL'Madden

I was noticing the same thing. This game does not appear much different in those areas except for more cutscenes and the fight for every yard concept with the fumble meter. Animations are still problematic (glitchy) even with this so called pro tak technology added.

you are correct. the engine is not working, the animation engine is not working,the locomotion is not working,the graphics engine is not working, the player model/field height weight ratio is not working. the player models are not working.

the only thing that could save madden is to start from scratch ea needs to get this through there head. there going to have to skip a year or even two years to develope a new football game.
as far as i am concerned the developers fan interaction has done nothing but add accesories and fluff to the game when the mechanics are still broken

People have been complaining for 4 or 5 yrs that presentation was needed big time for Madden. Now, Ian and company have heard the complaints, and now all they here was , this was in 2k5 before.

Madden can't win.

Just be happy it's in now, nobody can change history.

There is a slight problem with your last sentence. I take it you didn't happen to have an opportunity to read some of the thread.

Ian stated this footage is 2 weeks old and Pro Tak was not enabled for this game play.

Could you at least back some of your complaints with example. All the engines that you mention are working as they are suppose to, its just the lack of proper locomotion that makes it seem unorganic.

What is funny to me is that some people are talking about the game having bad gameplay........You cant see some of the gameplay you have to feel some of it out through the controller. That is soo funny to me.

-You people wanted 3-4 OLBs leaning over....Guess what. Ian gave it to you
-You wanted ratings to matter more. Guess what Donny gave it to you by the WR blowing past a LB

And as well im sure most of you guys saw the thing on Spike tv.....That was damn good LOOKING gameplay to me. Did any of you see that PUNT, it looked great and it looked like the punters weight transfered with the punt.

All im saying is how can you judge a game off of 4 plays.......Man If I was Ian I wouldnt come back either....

I really think if Madden to be as realistic as we want it to be, the thing it needs is a complete makeover in the locomotion department. After watching the video, the running animations are STILL an eyesore for me even though they have made some tweaks to. But more importantly players need to move around with some weight. Right now they are turning on a dime which is not working if Madden desires to be realistic. Watching the video, M10 looked a lot like M09 because the players move exactly like they did last year.

It's nice that they improved the blocking, tackling, throwing, and WR/DB animations, but IMO bad player physics negates a lot of that simply by the fact that you will see a catch once a play, you see a throw once a play, you see a tackle once a play, and of course you see at least 5+ blocks a play but every player is moving around for the entire play! Until they improve player movement, Madden will never break away from the image of being unrealistic that past Maddens have unfortunately carried.

Other notes are that I think that the OL/DL improvements are being hampered by poor AI. There always seems to be a dude wondering aimlessly and the DEs engage too early therefore making the pocket HUGE. And I really have not noticed the game being slower than last years although Ian says that is had by 5%-10%. Maybe my expectations were too high but since we've been able to see actual gameplay, I must say that I am a bit disappointed. And yes I know its an early build, but seriously, how much are you expecting it to change come August. What we are seeing right now is probably very close to what we are getting.

remeber this build is 2 weaks old....and ifyou dont like what it looks like......its simple , dont buy the game. I think it looks better than last year and the addition of protak makes it that much better.

serious, dont buy the game....i don't care and EA doesn't care.....go play a game that is 4 years old in 2k.

then you wonder why guys like Ian , who are working with us , dont want to come back to hear the ignorance and mostly uneducated people of this forum.

wait till after E3, then we will see a much more polished madden
