How to make a logo for your custom school without Photoshop

Here are some basics that seem to be coming up a lot.

    I use a free program called Paint.net

First copy the image you want to use to the clipboard.

In Paint.net go to New in the top left. Hit OK when the window pops up.

    Paste your image.

Now go to Image on the top bar and select Resize.

Uncheck the box that says "maintain aspect ratio"

Change the values in both width and height to either 256x256 or 128x128.

In the toolbar select the Magic Wand tool.

Select the area around the logo that you want to be transparent and click delete. This takes a little practice. If you end up selecting too much area or too little area try adjusting the "tolerance" slider at the top of the page. After a few tries you should get the hang of it.

Your final image should look like the one at the bottom of the page.

Make sure to save as a .png.

This is a very basic tutorial, and there are a lot more things you can do in Paint.net, most of which I haven't figured out yet, but hopefully this can do the job a little.

People could just download and install GIMP. I used it for some of mine. Check em out at the TB site under matcs_finest.

good post. this should help people who don't have PS since the magic wand tool is in PS and its what i use. but i do have one problem with what you said. do NOT uncheck the box that says maintain aspect ratio. for a logo that has a ratio of 1:1 (i.e. exactly as wide as it is tall) you can do that. but for logos that are wider than they are taller (such as the Gators helmet logo) or vice versa, if you don't keep the aspect ratio, it will squish and stretch the logo.

If you don't want to go through the trouble of downloading a new program, then you can just
            1. upload it to photobucket.
            2. Then click the logo (to view full).
            3. Move the mouse over the logo to bring up the menu bar
            4. go to "edit image" => see much more
            5. click the top tab that says "decorate"
            6. click the paintbucket fill tool
            7. check the box next to "transparent"
            8. Fill the area around the logo.
            9. click done; then replace original (at the bottom)
            10. then save it back to your computer
            11. then upload to the uniform creator

            hope this helps someone.
It's kind of a long process, but it works as long as the area around your logo is clean (no pixelly particles.)
            Browns. Buckeyes. Cavaliers. Indians.
