Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
It really takes away a huge layer of franchise, I mean HUGE. I can't imagine this was an oversight, they must've had some logic issues or something, or not enough QA time with it... I'd love to hear a response though as to why this was left out.I have to admit, I'm baffled with this too. Isn't that the whole point? That's what prevents people from just building a pro bowl roster. Although, the fact that the other teams all have to draft as well eases this a lot too. You won't be able to just stack your team because 31 other teams are drafting players. However, it does take away from cuts and other such moves.Comment

Well, without a CBA, there's no salary Cap in the real NFL either in 2010.Comment

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
Where are ya'll getting this info from? If this is true, then the only thing I can think is that they want the commish to be able to set it to what he wants. I agree, it's a big deal. It's not a game killer for me though. Most likely you're gonna have to watch over all the teams anyway, if it's like NCAA OD was. There were so many glitches and cheats that people could do for recruiting it wasn't funny. I'm pretty sure this will have it's fair share of glitches. EA never get's it right on the 1st time lol. While I'm checking members teams and rosters, I'll check there salaries too. Problem solved.

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
Not true. Salary cap has been messed up for so long you had to oversee other teams anyway. This will be just like they haven't changed anything. All you do is tell your members what the cap is and then you enforce it. It's not as bad as you think. True, it will be more work for the commish, but it can be managed.PSN - Splff3000

No...that's stupid...Instead of actually fixing the broken salary cap, they take it out? EA sometimes does the dumbest things that I don't even understand. It's not franchise if there's no salary cap, it's just online leagues again with some tweaks.Jay Cutler is a whiny little girl.Comment

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
I just thought about something, in Madden 03, on PS2, I made a mistake one time and I released a guy, but I didn't have enough money to sign anyone in free agency. Of course that release put me under the roster minimum for that position. There was nothing I could do. I had to restart my franchise because there was nothing I could do. Now I haven't did this since then, so I don't know if they have put measures in place, so that this won't happen, but I'm pretty sure that something like that is the reason they took it out for online. You don't want to ruin the whole online franchise just because some guy can't manage his salary. That's my guess anyway lol.PSN - Splff3000

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
I'm going out on a limb and saying that your issue was because Madden 03 had a broken salary cap. You can always release an expensive player so that you can sign cheaper guys. If you're over the cap by $1 MM, and you need to sign a player, you will have to cut someone making $3 million, then sign a couple cheaper (and worse) players to fill the hole.

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
Yes you're right, but as I was saying, I didn't have enough money to sign any of the free agents on the game. I don't see how that's broken. It seems to me that, if you're not paying attention, it could happen to anyone at anytime. Like I said, I haven't done that in years so I don't know what happens now, if you're in the same situation as I was. Will they still let you release a player regardless of whether you will have money to sign one of the free agents? If so then, this situation could come up again for other people at anytime.I'm going out on a limb and saying that your issue was because Madden 03 had a broken salary cap. Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
If you click the "Operation Sports E3 Coverage" banner at the top of the page, the rumor is first spelt out in Chase's post regarding impressions of Madden 10. He's still attempting to track down a more definitive answer to this question, however.
It'd be kinda disappointing to me if the salary cap didn't exist in online franchise, but unless it's been tuned for Madden 10 the salary cap always increased by way too much each year anyway and essentially became a nonfactor after a few season by my experience.Comment

Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
Thank you. BTW - The bold part is what I've been trying to say. It hasn't been a factor before now, so it not being there shouldn't matter. Also, most likely, there is no salary cap in online franchise. No need to speculate anymore. This is the same situation that happened with cpu sliders last year. Someone at E3 said they couldn't find any cpu sliders and the speculation began as to whether cpu sliders are in or not. Sure enough, sliders weren't in. This seems like the same situation. If you click the "Operation Sports E3 Coverage" banner at the top of the page, the rumor is first spelt out in Chase's post regarding impressions of Madden 10.
